Hello Everyone,

Happy New Year to all and I hope you’re all staying safe. Update: I had my beautiful little boy, married my best friend and filed to update my name on my green card by myself, versus waiting until citizenship to change my last name. For everyone that’s going through the journey, there’s light at the end of the tunnel. Don’t let negative thoughts or fear consume you. Congratulations to all the new approvals. Remember every victory is one step closer to your journey. I have a feeling that things will move faster with the new president. Please stay safe with the pandemic and know you got this.

Congrats dear

@sandranj @Stillwinning!!!😊 please can any of you help answer this. I have a pending vawa and i485 with fee waiver for both. My attorney recently sent my EAD renewal to Chicago IL without any fee and I am yet to hear back from USCIS. I raised my concern that I was supposed to pay for EAD renewal and today he said we will send another I 765 with the fee. My question is which office is he suppose to send it to ? Is it Vermont or Chicago il. Also the first I 765 was sent this month to Chicago without fee, should I resend another one with fee and to which office

thanks

Hi, your attorney should know that when you file for vawa, you send your petition and subsequent petitions to Vermont not Chicago or anywhere else..also if you have a pending I-485 EAD renewal is usually free!👍

It's time for another joke -- this one about justice.

A man's wife was arrested for shoplifting, and she was hauled before the small-town judge.  "What did you steal?" asked the judge.

"A can of plums," the woman answered embarrassedly.

"How many plums were in the can?" asked the judge.

          "Six," responded the woman.

"In this case," said the judge, "I sentence you to six days in jail -- one for each plum."

The woman's husband then urgently whispered, "Your Honor, she also stole a can of peas!"

😀😀 Judge: "How many peas were in the can?"

Woman: "I'm not sure it definitely was a lot.."

Judge: "You have been sentenced indefinitely!"

😛😛😀😀

This was hilarious!

Thank you for your response. Is it free even though the fee was waived for my I-485. Also should I send a new application to Vermont now since the first one was sent to Chicago @Stillwinning!!!😊

Oh I see what's going on.. you're going to have to pay for the EAD this time since you didn't pay for the i-485! The way it works when you make your initial application with the correct fees, renewals are usually free! And yes you send to Vermont!👍

@Stillwinning!!!😊 I appreciate your quick response. Last question pls, the one that was sent to Chicago without fee was sent this month and I am yet to hear from them. Would there be no issue sending a new one to Vermont with fee?

The I-551 stamp is  to serve as evidence that that  person can live and work permanently in the U.S. You are not a a green card holder then you can't ask to stamp the I-551.

If you need advance parole then USCIS   will stamp the I-512,but you have to prove that you submitted the I-131.To work you need your work permit.

Thank you all. After calling the congressman and making him reach out to USCIS, I finally got the card. It turned out to be the expired fingerprints.

One question, friends: when do I receive the welcome letter? Do I have to receive it and does it have anything important one must know about?

I can fully relate to that, and my ex spouse hit me with the car ones, he assault me once and he got charged with a second degree assault, he also pulled a knife on me 3 times so i know what you mean. And also he was in charge of my application and paperwork for my I-485 so idk what mess he did there thats why im concern and ask is there a difference between marriage and vawa based interview

I emplore you to seek counseling not just for this processm but to help you live a normal life.  For a long time, I was triggered by everything, and had a lot of anxiety.  TRAUMA THERAPY is the only thing that helped me.  I still have good and bad days, but I can hold my head up and know that I am safe.

All VAWA related petitions go to Vermont from now on.  So your renewal should go to Vermont.
