Hey there hun! Nice! At least we can keep each other posted about the progress of our cases. I’ve received I-693 deficiency notice which is the medical. It was clearly specified that if I get the mail for interview, I’ll take it with me. If I get thr gc by mail without interview then USCIS will send RFE and further instructions. Also, it’s stated to not send in the mail now because it might cause a delay in my case. 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

Okay I will have to contact my congressman because I did not receive the RFE for medical yet. I will keep you posted on any update I get and I hope that you receive the green card without interview this wait is frustrating.

Hey, I have a question. If a person receives I-693 deficiency notice which is medical. Does it mean I 485 is in the local office and ready for the interview? I just want to know this notice also tells us that our file is our local office??

NO it means that it is being reviewed by NBC before it is sent to local office.

Hey, I’ve received my I-693 last year and my lawyer inquired about my I-485 too and this was response. I didn’t know they have it already in the local

office. No updates in any forms whatsoever.

Dear family!

Today I have got my green card! I cannot describe what I feel after several years of stress, uncertainty about tomorrow, and fear. I feel as I can breathe again and live a full life.

I want to say thank everyone who answered my questions and shared their information that was very useful. And thank this VAWA group, all this time I didn’t feel myself alone.

I want to share my experience, maybe it can help somebody.

My timeline:

06/11/2018 – I-360, I-485

02/24/2020 – received EAD-31 (by VAWA)

03/27/2020 – I-485 transferred to another office

11/27/2020 – My ex-attorney from Pennsylvania where we lived before got the invitation for the interview on 12/28/2020 only for my son (13 years old (although my new attorney changed my address 1,5 years ago when I moved to Georgia and got my C-9 card and C-31 through my new attorney).

12/28/2020 – AOS interview in Pennsylvania

I have never got a VAWA approval notice, any other letters from USCIS, any online updates, and didn’t get the invitation for the interview for myself. My son didn’t get an update online about his interview, so be careful when you move to the other place, be sure you can get your correspondence.

I heard that possible we may not have the interview in the state where we don’t live anymore but I knew also that we have to come to the interview otherwise they will deny our cases. So, I decided to go where and at least to be sure that they finally change our address and after we will be waiting for our interviews in Georgia where we live now, and to figure out where is my documents and my VAWA approval letter.

When we came to the interview with my son, I was so lucky because the officer said that she found my documents and we can both have the interview, and in spite hat are from the other state, decided to conduct our interview. We were without an attorney. Our interview was very smooth and easy. The officer was very kind and friendly. She asked for our medical forms (I-693), we did it two weeks before the interview. She asked my name, the names of my parents if I work and where, if I married, I said that I divorced and gave her my divorce decree,  my new address, how many times were I married, and about 6-7 yes/no questions. Asked my son just a couple of questions about his name, the name of me, and what grade he is studying. In the end, the officer said that everything looking good and asked which address to send our green cards to. She said usually it takes 2-4 weeks to update the information, make decisions, and send the green cards. I asked her when my VAWA case was approved because I have never got approval notice and she said in February (when I got my C-31 card).

After the interview, my online status started to change (before this the last update was on 03/22/2020 that I-485 transferred to another office, no update about the interview) :

12/28/2020 -  Your interview was completed , and your case must be reviewed

12/29/2020 – We ordered your new card

30/12/2020 – We approved your Form I-485

31/12/2020 – We mailed your new card your Form I-485 (great present for New Year)

01/06/2021 – The green card in my hands

I wish good luck to everybody and a faster approval solution in your cases!

Congrats and good luck on your new journey

Does he have to pay the filing fee again if he files a new i485? Or he is going to use the receipt for the old one as proof of payment. I may need to file a new i485 too

Unfortunately, if the older 485 was denied, filing fee would need to be paid again for the new one

Thanks for give me suggestions can you tell me Wht is another way and how long does it take process new i 485

I was thinking to confirm if the older 485 was indeed denied. you can do an inquiry with a congressman's help or ask your lawyer. that would be the first step
