It definitely doesn't invalidate your EAD... it has no adverse effect whatsoever! You should get the biometrics done so USCIS can store it in their database!👍

Thanks love, whew!!! my heart rate shot up for a minute there, I like working and making money so I can live decently.

Yes under the same case number for I-485👍

Thank you again. Do you know if I485 approval  notice can be a substitute for actual green card if presented to employer? I don’t see it listed under I-9 list. Needing to find a solution to continue working while waiting for the card as my current EAD expires in January.

I can understand why your imagination is getting really creative but trust me you you'll definitely get it.. Not sure if the approval letter can substitute..but you can show it to them so they can understand your situation..you should also look into renewing the EAD before the Green Card arrives not sure why it's taking long to arrive. I also told you before to contact your congressman.👍

@Stillwinning!!!😊 How long does it take for you to see an update of your I-485 after your I360 approval?

Mine has been approved for 4 months now and no updates yet.

There's no specific time to be honest... it differs for everyone personally it took 3 months for me, others 4, 5, 6 just like that..it's also possible that you didn't get an update which is pretty common with USCIS! Congressional inquiry is always recommended!👍

you have to file for naturalization (N400 form) three years after green card approval.

Well you don't have to naturalize, you can remain an LPR until the day you die of old age, but considering that Citizenship comes with a lot more benefits (right to vote, right to a US passport, right to leave US indefinitely, no longer can be deported for any reason aside immigration fraud before naturalizing, right to petition for parents or siblings' immigration, etc), and the only additional requirement I can think of is maybe being called for jury duty, and maybe losing your prior nationality if your country of origin doesn't permit multiple nationalities, I think that most LPRs should naturalize as soon as they can.

Contradictions without citations only make you look dumb.

Hello Family! Spoiler: long post, hopefully, worth it!

I consider this a hot topic since most of us, at least one time, thought to file a complaint about our lawyers.

I would make it really short:

In 2016 a NYC lawyer suggested me to file for VAWA after noticing a repeated pattern of abuse from my husband. (he was a lawyer we hired for our marriage papers - never filled)

In the summer of the same year, I decided to pay all the fees in full and hire this attorney to work on my case.

Two years passed without any progress on my VAWA and me, the most naive person in this World, assumed he was just doing his best work.

In June 2018 I was really over me waiting two years without being able to even work, travel or live. I started to ask to follow up on my case and down here listed all the answers:

  1. I applied, you need to wait (already two years has passed)
  2. Your case is hard
  3. VAWA is hard
  4. It took time
  5. You are not my priority
  6. I have a better case to take care of
In August 2018 I was DONE! I jumped on a call and fire the lawyer that repeatedly threatened me to don't give me back my money. He also had the gut to call me multiple times telling me if I would reconsider his services.

Wanna know the best part? He never (!!!!!!!) applied for my case. I paid and wait two years, without working waiting for NOTHING. Just living in a lie!

From 2018, two years have passed. I now have a new lawyer that respected all the deadlines, giving me my first EAD card in 90 days, and allowed me to "relax". I now have all of you and a support system that is roaring.
Now I'm ready to fight the malpractice of my past lawyer that took advantage of me and the respect I gave to him.
I want my money back but that is just a little detail: in light of all the changes (good ones)  I went through in those past two years, I want to take home the respect I deserve and fighting for my dignity.

I always feel privileged but often I think: what if he is doing the same thing to someone that doesn't have money to live? What if the next women or men are giving up only the money they have for his service? What if it's out there ruining good people's lives?

So here a question to @sandranj: what is the best way to take action on a case like mine? Is a refund for the pain and damage possible?
I can make a huge list of mental and financial repercussions I suffer because of what he did.
I have a well-done timeline with all the events.
Thank you for reading this and stay strong!

OMG this story is just so upsetting this lawyer need to be reported to Bar Association and definitely take some action. This is why we always need to have our case receipt and updates, I very happy you find a new attorney and is helping you Now. This can be definitely be happing to many more. Hope you can take action.

Thanks. I contacted both congressman and Senator. I have my c31 valid for a bit in 2021. But c09 expires in January. My renewal c09 was declined just this week. Did not see the notice yet but attorney told likely because i485 is approved. So yeah in limbo now and need to ensure I can work. You told me earlier tho that I c31 can be still good to use given its unexpired.

You really have nothing to worry about..you can use the C31 it's valid.. USCIS knows that you C31 is valid so there's really no point for the C9 there's no reason for you to be anxious.. you'll get your green card pretty soon!👍
