Respected Mrs. Sandra thanks for your response my VAWA case was already approved in the month of Jan 2020

I have  a question that once you got approved for combo card Ie work authorization and advance parole you will get a plastic card in the mail immediately and then after 2-3 weeks time you got an approval notice Ie a green color notice in mail as well

so my question is the moment I got the plastic combo card I can travel immediately and after that once the approval notice will receive it will be ok or the attorney has to send me this notice as well and the CBP may ask you for your plastic card as well as the approval notice.

As soon you get the advance parole you can travel, you don't need the approval letter.

I feel a little bit confused. When we get the green card from I-485 based on VAWA, do we have to wait for another 3 years to become an American citizen? How will this work? (Spouse was an American and got divorced already)

If your spouse is a U.S Citizen you can apply  for Citizenship after 2.9months.

Hello everyone. Hope everyone is doing well? My VAWA has been pending since August 2018 and I never received an Rfe. I am having issues with my lawyer and I need your help. The agreement with her for the entire VAWA package is $5500, of which I have paid. She is so arrogant, lackadaisical and not helpful at all. My EAD is expiring in March, I informed her about it in September 2020 and completed the I-765 form, only to be informed by her that her office will charge $400 for administrative fee to process a renewal for EAD. Mind you, this is my 3rd EAD card I am requesting for. I thought they had processed it only to call them up yesterday and the lady I spoke with said they had not processed it because I have not paid the $400. Can you imagine, they have taken me 3 months behind because of their greed.

This platform has given me some sort of independence and determination. Reading from real life experience and how the community has come together to assist has given me the “I can do it myself” mindset. I am now determined to do it myself, but I do not have the receipt notice for the I-485. Please can I renew my EAD without the I-485 receipt notice? I have just written to lawyer requesting for copies of all my immigration documents, but if she doesn’t respond, is there a way I can request for all the notices from USCIS. Can I renew my EAD without submitting the notice for the I-485.

@sandranj @Stillwinning!!!😊 @Demise
Please anyone that has gone through this experience should kindly share their thoughts.

Thank you.

Hi Folks,

I just got today I-693 Deficiency Notice.

My VAWA was approved 1 month ago, and old I-485 has been activated again. So I got this notice.

Do you know is that mean interview will be soon, or no?

I am so anxiuos.

Thanks

There's nothing to worry about here it's the Medicals... for you to  it updated or you didn't submit it in the first place I would advise that you do it when you have your interview notice because it's time sensitive.. except instructed otherwise read the notice very well does it say for you to send it in or just letting you know that it's missing?

Hello there sorry you're going through all of this we've heard of all kinds of lawyers here.. it's so unfortunate anyway you're able to do the renewal yourself and sure you're going to need your I-485 so you need to get it back politely from them ask them to give you a copy and then you could go ahead and renew your EAD yourself without the $400 fee but if you feel like you want to pay the fee it's not really a lot...so many people were charged ridiculous amounts here so go ahead and do it yourself if you want to save four hundred bucks!😊👍

I always renew my EAD myself. Easy and fast. No need for a lawyer for that. My lawyer charged me 1500 $ for my vawa

They told me not to send nothing at this point, just to wait for new instruction and evidence.

Is this mean interview is close or no?

Thank you @Stillwinning!!!😊 . I have sent the lawyer an email requesting for the documents. I would have paid the lawyer the money but she never informed me that was what held the submission of my EAD renewal documents. I only called them yesterday after almost 4 months, to be told that it wasn’t send because of non payment of the $400. Is there a way to directly request for the I-485 notice from USCIS? If so, what is the process?

I am telling you, most of these lawyers are rip-offs. If only my cases have been approved, I won’t be going through this situation.

You could get a copy of your file from USCIS through Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) but I would wait till you hear from your attorney before proceeding they probably will send you a copy of your i485. Apart from the greed, it shouldn't be an issue with them!👍

It's hard to tell you if your interview is closer or not sometimes people receive the Medical Update notice and wait a long time... other times you get it and your interview is scheduled sooner..got my i693 notice July 2019 and interview was scheduled for March 2020 best to see how things go from here..👍
