hi @Villanelle just wanted to thank you for taking the time to write the below post and answer to my questions I posted a few weeks ago. I am impressed by your level of knowledge of how this process works. I can tell that everything you described is exactly what has happened with my case. I can also tell you that your single post answers so many questions I've had ever since the beginning of this journey.

As you said, my best bet is to guess when my case was transferred to my local office (Vawa was approved in Nov 2019). Since I am in Miami, this guessing thought process leaves me with at least another year or two of waiting. God is in control.

Hi everyone. Please I need help.

i filed for an expedite request on my I-765 on December 2nd and I didn’t receive any letter, RFE or update. On the December 7th I made a request for evidence for my I-131. I got an email stating that my case is currently under review and the next day we have taken action on your case. Please what does that mean as I don’t see any update in my online account.

How did you file for expedite? What was the reason?

Hi @sandranj and all

Good morning, I am a silent member of this thread to keep updating myself with ongoing situation with VAWA. I have been worried these days as I didn't hear anything back from USCIS since my VAWA got approved in April-2020 and they have updated status as "APPROVED" by July-2020. I have following updates for my I-485;

  • On  04/10/2020, Your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, was transferred to another office for processing.
  • On  04/13/2020, We transferred your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, to another USCIS office that now has jurisdiction over your case.
  • On  08/17/2020, We sent a request for initial evidence for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status.
  • On September 21, 2020, we received your response to our Request for Evidence for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status,

I have received I-360 approval notice from USCIS but till date didn't have received a courtesy letter for I-485. Is courtesy letter required to be received as an indication of USCIS working on my case? Do I know when will they notify me about medical, how much time they will take for scheduling green card interview? based on the I-485 updates I provided above, can you tell me when should I expect to be notified for medical/interview? Thanks a lot 🙏

USCIS is  working on your case since the case got there, but cases stay on the queue. They will issue you an RFE asking the medical exam, but if you changed your address with USCIS then there is a HUGE chance they won't update your address, my experience showed me that  9 out of 10 cases  people changed the address, informed USCIS and they didn't update the address.

You need to check your local office timeline to have an idea when they will schedule your interview.

Hello everyone,

Is it safe to file a Petition for Dissolution of Marriage if I-360 has been approved and you are waiting on I-485 interview [based on VAWA]?

Thank you

You can divorce when you want ok.

hi, would I run into any problems if I move to another state after my vawa has been approved but before my i485 has been approved? If i do that would my i485 interview be in the state i'm moving from or in my new state? thanks

You can move to a different State, but  the problem is if USCIS will update your address, they are  messy.

thanks in advance Aidan

USCIS most of the time Do not inform if the case was transferred to your local office. NYC local offices are taking 14/19 months to schedule the AOS interview.

Their is no shame to be a survivor of domestic violence. And second when you apply for a job HR can’t not  discuss or disclose any personal information.

Can’t agree more @sandranj I come from a place where single women are judged, ridiculed and shamed. I find it easier to disconnect from society and keep to myself. Since I cannot avoid  work colleagues who are mostly from my country, i was thinking if i can keep my info confidential. I have been having nightmares about this and am yet to inform my employer. But I will have to do that once i have card in my hand. Time is a great healer and i hope to feel normal someday. I will work on becoming a stronger person. Thank you for your support  🙏🏽
