Hello dear, new member here I just sign up so that I could answer your question. There are Lovely ladies on this forum. Thanks for the uplifting work you all do.

For financial aid my dear yes the Prima Facie makes you eligible. For starters you need to file a fafsa form on the Department of Education. Once you answer the question about citizenship select "NO, BUT I AM AN ELIGIBLE NONCITIZEN". Your application will be processed and the DOE will verify your status with USCIS. Don't worry if they say you are not an eligible non citizen. The school you selected on your application will contact you before they finalize your aid package and then you can submit your Prima Facie letter. I say go ahead and apply for financial aid. Plus you get refunded whatever money is left from the aid.

Yes that is the way to go about it. I recently got approved for financial aid using my Prima Facie but IN MY STATE, the school I wanted to attend  inform me that I will only be considered in state student(for tuition rate) AFTER one year of my I-485 priority date HOWEVER they said I can claim in state domicile based on my spouse if he is a resident of the state.

Hi everyone! Hope everyone is doing great. So I have an issue and I’m freaking out.

I first received a RFE back in October and I my uscis account stated that they sent me a new Request for additional evidence today. Should I worry? Is it a bad sign ?

thank you so much in advance.

RFE means they are interested in your case ! Don't need to worry!

Hello,

I tried to do all of this, and my school couldn’t verify my immigration status. My i360 is approved. I sent to school the letter of approval of my i360, but they still won’t give me any fin aid. I spoke with my school online and via the phone, and then I just gave up. Because every time I have to mention my situation, and explain to all these people about the abuse, and it’s just too much for me, I am re-living it again.

you have to send them all your immigration papers receipts of the I-360 & I-485 including the Prima Facie.

Is financial aid something that you need to pay back later? Is it the same like student loan?

No my dear. Financial aid is based on your income status and how much you can contribute to pay for your higher education. It is a grant from the government. As I said before you get to keep the money in case your aid is bigger than your tuition. Loans though have to be repaid with interests. And the prima facie letter qualifies you for both.

Hello

Did your school use SAVE? It's the agency in USCIS that verify immigrants' eligibility for federal programs. I had the same issue initially but I insisted and kept calling the financial aid office at my school. They knew nothing about the prima facie and were asking for my green card which I don't have yet. Its good that you qualify for in state tuition however you should also receive some type of federal aid. Try again and demand to speak with someone knowledgeable about immigration. Good luck

Hello lovely ladies! Any 2019 filters approved yet. My pd is 4/2019 and my case status is "fees waived". I have received 2 Prima Facie letters, 2 ead cards and applied for I-131.

Some uplifting words would be appreciated. How do you deal with the long wait?

Thanks for your quick response Ana. No I haven't contacted my congresswoman? Do you think I should? Will that expedite the case?

My lawyer told me Vawa can't take uo to three years before approval. I received the first Prima Facie 14 months after filing.

Hi yes I did ask for help again I contacted the Ombudsman 2 weeks ago no replay and the lastest reply from the Congresswoman is of January 13 2021, my case is waiting to be scheduled for an interview

My working permit  and Advance parole will Expire end  March and wonder should I wait or renew it

Everytime I renew it I pay $500

And I got laid off December

I 360 been approved since September 2018 🥺

Wow that’s expensive to renew! Mine is due in April. It takes them time to issue work permit though so be mindful about the timeline. Hang in there!

Hello Guys, Finally I have an update on my case from NYC, Today my attorney received a notice from Local Office Federal Plaza requesting to mail them my new medical form. This gives me so much hope that I will not be interview, since is the local office requesting medical form and not NBC, otherwise they will just sent me interview date and ask me to bring new medical form with me. Anyone have this experience on local office directly asking for medical and did they received interview after? or Green card was mail without an interview after receiving medical form? Thank you guys.

VAWA Filed 06/2018 approved 12/2019

I-485 filed 10/2017 Put on hold at interview 05/2019

I-693 Requested from local office 02/8/2021.

Congratulations! How many months is your wait from the time your case has been approved?? Which local office, Queens or Federal Plaza?

how long after sending back RFE response for medical exam does the i-485 interview is scheduled?

It can take anywhere from two weeks to six months or more, but this days if you get RFE for medical  on your I-485, it’s more likely your interview is going to be wave.
