Hi Visajourney family.

I360 sent December 2018

I360 approved September 2020

I485 interview notice February 2021

My green card interview is approaching.

It is like $500 to have an attorney with me (is it better to go with an attorney) please 🙏 I'm not currently working, i really can not afford to pay $500.

@Restez Forts

Short answer: Lawyer's office.

Long answer: All my mail has been and will be going to my lawyer's office. He is updating me ASAP with an email copy of anything received and will mail originals as needed (will keep record if all, of anything is lost or just in case). I know it is less than ideal, but in my case, it is as safe as it comes. My field office is in Philly PA and my lawyer is not there, not even in the same state. Even if I move, the mailing address will remain the same. Theoretically the I-485 interview will be at the original location of filing or at the lawyer's office's location. I will not change my address with USCIS for any reason, unless my lawyer is not representing me anymore for any reason or he tells me to. I am able to keep his address as my safe mailing address and deal with USCIS, if needed, for not updating it. As long as your lawyer is aware of your whereabouts, gets your mail and can get a hold of you, with VAWA, you should be ok to do so. (Lawyers in the forum, please confirm!!!) I've paid a flat steep fee for the pleasure, but a peace of mind is priceless!!!!! While my now ex hubby was out with his shenanigans (out on a 'business' trip), I've gathered all the courage, packed up and left.  No trace, nothing. Ghosted that M♡F. Yet, somehow, even after changing address and a workplace, I was served my second round of divorce paperwork (yes, second  - first dismissed) - at my 'secert' new workplace!.  Thank God my higher-ups were not around when this has happened, because I was most definitely terrified and not even close of be able to breathe, not even talking about smiling and working. I work in a legal hospitality business (restaurant) before anyone decides to judge me. Still, 11 month's since Covid hit, still hanging on to the 'temporary' on and off closed worlplace, because no other way with no EAD.

Don't travel without an I-131 approval. It sucks, I know, but those are the rules.

Yea . I understand now literally . Thank you for your suggestion .

Sorry for what you're going through! While I think the first one might have been approved if it was correctly linked to your I-360 but I understand that bars of adjustment are different than what USCIS is saying here about "abandoning" the application. Not sure if VAWA applicants can by pass that too but it might be difficult to challenge if that's the rule. Good thing is you can apply again! I know it's been so long and not ideal but you're doing the right thing and wish you best with the one!! :)

I would say if you have a complex case, pay the attorney to go. if your case is simple just go by yourself..

08/2017 - Married USC

09/2017 - Application for I-485, I-765, I-131

12/2017 - Approval  I-765, I-131

09/2018 Renewal application for I-765, I-131

04/2019 - I-485 interview scheduled

04/2019 - I-485 denied, husband withdrew

05/2019 - Application for  I-360, I-485, I-765, I-131

12/2019 EAD, AP approval

07/2020 EAD, AP renewal sent to Vermont

10/2020 EAD, AP Approval

11/2020 VAWA I-360 Approved (C31 produced)

01/2021 I-360 status changed to case approved

Hello everyone,

Congratulations to all approvals.

I got my interview yesterday. Everything went ok. Total probably 20 mins in and out. Everything was smooth just yes no questions. Officer said everything was looking good from his side. Checked my approved I 360. Asked my birth certificate and medical check form. Asked how many times I was married. What year I got here in US, got excited and said 2016 instead of 2015. That was it.

now my receipt number says

“Interview Was Completed And My Case Must Be Reviewed”

is this normal? Is this a good sign? How long will it take to get the gc?

thanks in advance. Congratulations again to new approvals..💃

Going with an attorney doesn't necessarily make the case get approved... if you don't have any money then just go by yourself! If God goes with you it can make all the difference!😊👍

THank you so much for the suggestion . Yea . I was also thinking about that if there is any way to bypass it . It won't hurt to apply another one and to wait for a year . I am gonna come up with bunch of questions very soon . :D

In my view , It's kind of same going by yourself and going with attorney . May be you might feel more confident . If you do not go with attorney then prepare your paperwork . Make a list what you need to take . Write down the questions what IO officer usually asks . Also prepare some difficult questions with the logical answers .  Don't get nervous because interview is pretty simple  and short .  They are tired of taking interview .

And keep asking question here whatever is your concern is about ? Hope for the best . Prepare for the worst . I wish  everything will be fine and smooth for you.

It is normal .  It means the IO officer or agent  who interviewed you recommended your case for approval . They need to do final review before approval . You will keep getting notification within few weeks . Congratulations . Wish you get the approval notice in the next news .

Thank you So much @sandranj again for help, really nice of you. If she will not receive interview or biometric before she file VAWA, she need to write an letter to VSC along with her I-360 application including I-485, I-765, I-131 and request to hold I-485? Do USCIS usually update status once they decide if they will be holding her I-485 or not? Anything else she need to do? Or she need to file I-360 first and then wait for the receipt and then request USCIS to hold I-485 with I-360 receipt?

Thank you again everyone who is helping, really appreciate.

She should not file a new I485, if her AOS is pending she needs to submit just the I-360 and a copy of her I-485,plus the documents specified on the form I360. They will not inform  by mail if they will hold or not the I-485.She must attend the interview when they schedule ok.
