Traveling with Beneficiary to US

Has anyone traveled with their beneficiary to the US? Any advice for the travel and POE, which will be Miami or Fort Lauderdale. If the embassy ever resumes interviews, and she can get the visa, I’m thinking of going down to help her fly up. Her and I will have luggage, our son and a cat, which is way too much for her to do on her own. Plan is to attend the interview with her and our son, then the next month for my days off, I’ll fly down to Colombia to help her close up shop and get on the airplane.

Hi,

Best of luck going forward.

Follow the US Embassy's advice and not make any nonrefundable plans until the visa is in hand is solid advice from Dashinka.

Look into getting the paperwork and vaccinations necessary for importing your cat.

Have to agree with all the above postings. Honestly the cat is going to be harder to get to the US than your son. There always seems to be tons of regulations for pets. I think they have to quarantine longer than people infected with covid upon entry to the US. They do have services that can help with animal transport and entry, but definitely look into it now, before it becomes a last second nightmare later.

Here on a K1? Need married and a Certificate in hand within a few hours? I'm here to help. Come to Vegas and I'll marry you Vegas style!!   Visa Journey members are always FREE for my services. I know the costs involved in this whole game of immigration, and if I can save you some money I will!

Does your son have his CRBA and US passport?

Yes our son is a dual Colombian-US citizen and the CRBA and passport was done after his birth last year. We just got his social security number as well, he’s fine. The tricky part is getting the cat to go with us, her and our son are best friends and are inseparable, she has to come with us. I think there’s a process to bring the cat to the US, 48 hour prior to travel she needs to be cleared by the vet, and then no less than 24 hours prior to departure, the veterinarians at the airport need to clear her as well. But I’m not sure where to find the info for this.

I’m not going to buy the ticket until she has the visa in hand, they’re not very expensive anyways. If nothing else I’ll use my travel benefits from my airline employment.

Start here with information on bringing a pet to the US. It is a combination CDC and department of agriculture thing. But this will give you a step in the right direction.
