Carter Page Sues DOJ, FBI, James Comey, And Others Behind Crossfire Hurricane FISA Abuse

In an eight-count complaint filed Friday in the D.C. District Court, Carter Page seeks damages of no less than $75 million from the U.S. government, the Department of Justice, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, and individuals responsible for obtaining four illegal Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act orders against Page.

Page’s 59-page complaint lists as defendants a veritable “Who’s Who” of the SpyGate scandal, including former FBI Director James Comey, Assistant Director Andrew McCabe, and the disgraced team of Peter Strzok and Lisa Page. Also singled out were Kevin Clinessmith, who earlier this year pleaded guilty to falsifying an email to hide Page’s past service as a source to the CIA, and FBI Agents Joe Pientka, Stephen Somma, and Brian Auten, with additional defendants identified merely as John Doe 1 – 10 and Jane Doe 1 – 10.

A necessary suit, not only because they should pay Page for the damages they caused, but because it hits the government for not prosecuting what are unequivocally serious crimes committed by people of high ranking positions in the bureaus and Presidential cabinet.

This count seeks damages for the individual defendants who “committed an abuse of process because they acted with an ulterior motive in using the FISA warrant process to accomplish an end unintended and not permitted by law, to wit, to spy on the Trump presidential campaign by unlawfully invading the privacy of Dr. Page without probable cause.” And yes, contrary to the corporate media’s continued denial, the Obama-Biden Administration intended to, and did, spy on the Trump campaign, including by obtaining the illegal FISA orders to surveil Page.

 

In his sixth cause of action, Page alleged what is called a Bivens claim, after the Supreme Court case of the same name. In Bivens, the Supreme Court held that a plaintiff is entitled to damages from the individual government actors responsible for violating the plaintiff’s Fourth Amendment right to be free of unreasonable searches and seizures, when the defendants act willfully, knowingly, or with a reckless disregard for the truth—which describes precisely what the Crossfire Hurricane team did in submitting the four false and misleading FISA applications to the FISA court.

Yeah he couldn't grasp how a FISA on Carter Page and another high level campaign official made it possible for the FBI to wire tap almost everyone in the campaign including Trump. 

 

FISA warrant = 2 hop wire tapping

 

What this means in practice is that, under a single warrant, anyone Page had a text or phone call with in the Trump campaign during the brief months of his association with it in 2016, was fair game, as a direct connection, all the way through the end of the last warrant-extension period on Page in October 2017. The second-hop connections of those initial contacts—meaning everyone that those people had contact with—are also fair game. In other words, it’s likely that almost everyone on the Trump campaign staff was included in the universe of first- and second-order contacts of Carter Page. The entirety of their correspondence is therefore also covered by the initial warrant, regardless of whether or not they ever met or corresponded with Carter Page, or whether that correspondence referred to him in any way, directly or indirectly.

All in all, FISA needs to die. It was known when it was made, and renewed, that eventually this sort of abuse would occur. Now it has, and was clearly used in some of the most heinous ways that, if actually prosecuted, should result in the most serious punishments, justifiably. The entire concept of secretive government flies in the face of democratic principles and harms the ability of the voter to exercise their own oversight on the government. Should've never been accepted to begin with.

They tried to expand on it this year but Trump put pressure on enough Republicans to put a stop to it

What appeal is there to any Republicans if not for Trump?

 

The deranged ones ran for the hills, others embraced him, and those (ridiculously few) who were principled to begin with stood out more.

 

The only other one in recent years who gave the Republicans any hope was Ron Paul and we saw what the media and establishment did to him. He was initially my top choice in 2012 but never picked a running mate and never looked to be in it all the way.

I completely agree, FISA as it was created certainly had some good intentions, but the negative potential as used by the Obama Administration in my mind out weighs any positive in a free society like the US.
