August 6th may be a bit too early for the NOA2, but if that was the case, it would be good news for everyone.

Hey: Our dates are very close----keep in touch!!

Nothing new had appeared on the overwhelmingly informative USCIS "Case Status Online" site, so I called USCIS again. After the usual 30 minutes of phone-mail purgatory and the screening-questions from the arrogant associate, I explained that I had never received anything in the mail; the associate "escalated" me to an immigration officer. THIS officer told me information that conflicted with what the PREVIOUS officer had told me: that I would receive an acknowledgment in the mail 45 days after July 20 (when I had first called about it), and NOT 45 days after the CSC had received my package from the TSC (June 11). I was beyond anger. This second officer said that the usual wait is "4 to 6 months." I told him that if the CSC were so disorganized as to never send me a mailed acknowledgment, I didn't believe him. He responded with the usual "Sorry, sir."

I then contacted my Congressman's office. The aide stated that the USCIS is their -- and THE -- very worst agency with which to deal. USCIS has informed congressional offices that USCIS will no longer accept faxes from the congressional offices. USCIS can take two days or longer to respond to inquiries from congressional offices. I observed to the aide that it seemed that the tail was wagging the dog, and the aide agreed, saying, "It will literally take an act of Congress for anything to be done." He agreed with me that only one example of the convoluted process was my having been told to file at the TSC only for the package to be sent to the CSC, thus losing more days. He observed that the CSC is extremely backed up. He did say that FBI name-checks are a part of the hold-ups.

He will try to call the CSC to learn the status of my petition. He had no pretense that he would be able to pull strings or talk with anyone of genuine influence, but he said that we could at least learn what they tell him.

Does anyone have anything significant or meaningful to add? This is all beyond "maddening." -- TBoneTX

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I can certainly validate your experience by referencing my own. This is what I wrote here a few pages back in case you missed it.

Well, here is a hard piece of fat to chew. I called the USCIS and talked to a lady there for a good 5 min and drilled her with questions from A-Z, even asking if it would speed things up if I went to Brasil and got my fiance pregnant. Anyway, with all the congestion with consolidating service centers and the 30,000 apps a month they are getting in, not to mention the spike in apps by those trying to beat the new fee increase, she said it would realisticly take 6 mos to get my NOA2 (approval). I about shot blood from my eyes hearing that. Then I reminded her I filed for the k1 in mid June and asked about their holiday schedule due to the tri-fecta holidays in the latter part of the year. She said that will have an effect for sure even at embassy's abroad with people traveling home for the holidays. Oh, I suspected such a thing and I was real happy hearing that.... So finally, I told her that I guess what your saying is that my fiance wont be getting her gyno exam anytime soon....

June 8 they revieved it

June 18 '07 check cashed got WAC#

No NOA1, touches, or progress given

NOA2 approved Oct 17

NOA2 card copy in mail Oct 20 (Surprise to us)

Package sent from USCIS to NVC Nov 7. (called USCIS to get this)

Nov 15, I got email at 6:57pm that our package was sent to Rio from NVC.

DON"T WAIT FOR THEM TO SEND ANYTHING, CALL AND MAKE SURE THEY GOT IT.

IF THEY DO, GO AHEAD AND SEND IN ds230,ds2001, the pics, and copy of passport

USE SEDEX AND GET THE TRACKING NUMBER.

Interview Set: Jan 29. Found this out on the embassy website under VISA's. It shows a list of visa types including K1 and shows the interview dates.

Visa granted but they mailed it using their own package delivery service. Took a week. Have money when you go to the appointment. They may also make you go and get more photos taken if they dont like the pics you bring. Just relax and dress wark because they keep the place really cold. Make sure your financials mmet the criteria or they will eat you alive.

MARRIED March 22. Sent in $1,010 in fees to Chicago to get change of status, apply for advanced parole, and ability to work documentation. Things work faster now.

May 22'08: Biometrics appointment in Santa Barbara.

I'm shooting for our NOA2 approval between now and end of September. If I had to choose a guess date I would say August 31-Sept 7. I know my timeline says Sept 28th but I mailed my app on May 17th. So maybe they go by that date for processing???

Hello June filers,

First off I wish the best for everyone's process.

I am a little concerned that reading everyone elses timelines that it seems that your forms have been "touched" in the last month. As for mine, I got the NOA1 on 06/15/07, via checking it at the USCIS website. Apparently, it hasn't been touched since 06/20/07. That's about a month and a half since any activity. Should I be concerned of how slow my process is going?

It's is currently at the CSC.

I'm sorry for the question, and please excuse me this is my first post.

Don't worry. I haven't gotten a touch since 6/22. Probably when they filed it away until it's time to look at it. A lot of people don't get touches at all early on. I think I would be a bit more worried if I did get a touch early on IMO.

No, I would say don't worry. I've read from many other people that some people get "touches" and some people never get any at all and the notice magically appears in the mail one day. We all still have a ways to go. From what I understand the website of USCIS isn't exactly accurate. Some people I read their status is still "Pending" even after they have already been scheduled for the interview.
