Shipping dates are noll and void for 2021 as the embassy is in charge when the file will be shipped. If your embassy is processing K-1's then you can be expected to see your file sent but if it is not, the file will sit at NVC till such time as the embassy request it. So, there is no scheduled delivery. Use your case number at CEAC to see when your status changes to "in transit".

Thanks for the heads up on the PDF. I'll update the PDF to reflect current conditions.

Just called NVC. Our case arrived, but no case number yet.

My Fiancé called at the same timing mentioned in the world famous PDF, compiled by @Greenbaum
They asked to stay on the line for like 20 min or so and gave our case number on the phone.
This was last week and today I tried to check the status of the NVC via ceac.state.gov website and this is what I encountered.

@Greenbaumcould you share your thoughts please ?

Does it mean the case is not ready ?
it says Invalid application ID or Case Number 🤷🏻‍♂️🧐

I went back for a refresher to the PDF and it states that you look up your status on CEAC as an "immigrant" and not a "non-immigrant" visa application type. You are considered and "immigrant" up to the time that your visa is issued, then your file will change to "non-immigrant" signaling to you that your visa is in the final stages of completion and near being issued.

hi @Greenbaum, would you be so kind to send me a P3 letter for Ukraine if you have it. Thank you 😊

If you find anything not up to date or the information is wrong, please share your findings. Please compare the date of the P3 of mine with the date from your copy, once you receive yours from your embassy. Keep in mind that I try and be factual with my information, but I can't do it on my own and that's where you come in and can give back to the community those who come behind you. Without others ahead of you I would not be able to provide this to you.  I can only share factual information if folks like you continue to be my eyes and ears for your embassy. I wish you much success in your visa journey.

Did you download a copy of the PDF from the first page first post? Have you read this thread thoroughly to see what others are experiencing? Most here will tell you that is taking 30 to 45 days to get to NVC from USCIS and another 2-4 weeks before a case number is assigned. You're way to early.

I did and I didn't think anything of it until I saw people with NOA2 dates after mine receive their case number. No need to be sassy. I was simply stating that I thought it was strange that this person with a later NOA2 date got their case number and they said mine hadn't even been received yet.

Can I share somethings with you that I learned long ago about this process?

    • "the man with the gold makes the rules"
    • it will take as long as it will take
    • no one with any certainty can tell you when some process will be completed
    • Your sense of urgency will never be equaled to what USCIS, NVC or your embassy demonstrates
    • Your journey is not going to mirror someone else's experience - yours and theirs are not the same
    • They only promised you a YES or NO answer. Never an exact time that their decision would be completed
    • Lowering your expectations will make you a much more relaxed individual

Good luck on your journey

You know, I've seen you copy and paste this and will say it never helps me, it just comes off condescending. I'm not looking for an exact date. I know this stuff takes time. I don't have high expectations at all. I am allowed to make an observation that people with later NOA2 dates received a case number before mine has even gotten to the NVC. Nothing in my post was complaining about the process, just natural curiosity.

I actually stop myself from posting on VisaJourney because of some of the responses people get. People are much nicer elsewhere.

How does something that is historical to the process can be construed by you as condescending. These are facts. This has been going on for more than 6 years that I have been helping others.

The problem that I see is that people do not read the thread in its entirety. They stay in one thread and not take advantage of all that is available to them. I see questions asked from people where others have asked the same question. Sometimes, the answer is just above their post. People want to be spoon fed the information. They don't use the search function in VJ. They don't go to the embassy website to unearth answers. They don't use google. They ask questions about their embassy from others who are from Germany, UK, and Nigeria and not from thier countries embassy. How do those people help someone from a different country?  People ask when something is going to happen and, in this day, and age, the entire visa process is ebb and flow. So yes, I pinned "what I know" because you asked. I authored the PDF to help people with the everyday questions because they are asked over and over. I did that for another simple reason, and that is we could spend countless hours answering the same question over and over because people do not read the history of the thread.

I don't have the time, especially since I do this a volunteer, to continue spoon feed people who are not putting forth some effort to understand the process. So yes, my answers are concise and not with a lot of fluff. I don't sugar coat my answer. It straight and to the point and backed up with links to what you can read or verify my answers.

BTW, I haven't seen you help anyone with any type of informational post. Just complaints. It's not a perfect system. Hit has its speed bumps. It won't ever be to yours or anyone else's liking. Learn to adapt. Good luck and stay engaged in the process.

You should consider to be a part of the conversation for your country here on VJ. Go to the blue ribbon above, select "forums" then scroll about three-fourths of the page down and select the region that most represents where your country is located.  There you will find others from your embassy who are asking the same questions or exploring thier next steps.

Here is a good example below.

It also said I can log in with my 16-digit Invoice ID for case status. How do I get that?  When you called for your case number you needed to ask for the invoice number as well as the case number. There are many ways to find the information using the case number and not the ID number. The ID number is not inclusive to any one part of this process. So, I don't recommend call back to NVC as you can still find the status using your case number.

should I wait for NVC to give me that number? See above. You'll get the number eventually in the email that you will receive once your file leaves NVC to your embassy. The embassy must request your case file and they will only do that when they are open and processing K-1 visas or when you are "next in line".

what would be my next steps? Read the top of the PDF where it states, "What's Next?"

any thoughts and helpful hints? Please use the PDF to answer your questions. If after reading and you are confused about something, then return here and post your question.

See above.

I have never complained. I didn't even ask a question. I didn't need your help nor did I ask for it. Again, I made an observation about the different timelines. I did read the PDF fully. I've looked through my specific country's forum. I've now requested to close my account
