Hi @Greenbaum, I was looking at the PDF and tried to click on the link for the first step (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information resources/ask-nvc.html) but it doesn't appear to work. Do you know if the link has changed? Thank you!

@GreenbaumI think I figured it out--it looks like it's missing a "-" between information and resources in the URL. You may want to adjust that on the PDF as well.

It does have the hyphen. I can't say what happened when you tried it but it is working from the PDF.

Ah weird--I'm glad it works then!

In case this helps anyone else, I called NVC today to ask about my case number. They directed me to this site for timeframes: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/nvc-timeframes.html. I got my NOA2 on Dec 15th, but the file didn't arrive at the NVC until Jan 5th (the nice lady told me on the phone) so I'll probably need to wait another 2-3 weeks before I get my case number.

Kind of unrelated Question, but if my fiance wanted a family member to be able to attend our wedding in the US (like say her younger sister), would it be possible to request they be able to come in the DS160 application that my fiance applies for? Or is it possible that it would make the embassy more likely to allow her sister to come if she applied for a visitor visa or something? Otherwise, her (my fiance's) family wouldn't be able to attend the wedding in the US.

Good to know. I got mine on the 14th and I was set to make my first call tomorrow. Guess I'll be waiting a little longer then.

My NOA2 was Dec 7 and I called the NVC and they said they haven't received my case yet. That's strange. Maybe I'll call again tomorrow

Hi master @Greenbaum,

Do you happen to have the P3 letter for Guangzhou China? Thank you in advance!

@Greenbaum

The GUZ P3 is what prevents people in China from getting a head start, they want the instructions page mailed back with the requested documents.

http://www.ustraveldocs.com/cn/cn-iv-visaapplyinfo.asp#KVisaPetitions

P3 Letter for China:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gcrLW0OCkGfdz43tehWNmgDayJUrRTdj/view?usp=sharing

U.S. Consulate General Guangzhou when it is time to schedule an interview. K visa applicants will be notified by the U.S. Consulate General Guangzhou when it is time to schedule an interview. You cannot schedule your interview appointment till such time as you have been sent the P3 letter from the Embassy and have returned the requested documents.

Here is some help from other members here on VJ:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/94-china/

And the Portal here on VJ for processing in China and what to expect

http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=China&cty=Guangzhou

and the http://www.ustraveldocs.com/cn/cn-iv-visaapplyinfo.asp

Don't waste time while you're waiting for P3, complete DS-160 and print confirmation page. Since you are from China go to the 2nd link below and click immigrant to register under K1 visa. After you register and enter info it should be clear on how to pay fee, make sure you print bank deposit slip. Just follow directions under Nonimmigrant Visa, but make sure when you register K1 is under Immigrant Visa.

Directions go to http://www.ustraveldocs.com/cn/cn-niv-visaapply.asp

Register(Create Account) https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/?language=English&country=China

After you register make sure to choose K1 visa under Immigrant, it wasn't an option for under non-immigrant.

If you find anything not up to date or the information is wrong, please share your findings. Please compare the date of the P3 of mine with the date from your copy, once you receive yours from your embassy. Keep in mind that I try and be factual with my information, but I can't do it on my own and that's where you come in and can give back to the community those who come behind you. Without others ahead of you I would not be able to provide this to you.  I can only share factual information if folks like you continue to be my eyes and ears for your embassy. I wish you much success in your visa journey.

The beneficiary would have to submit a US citizen or a permanent resident to file for a visa on behalf of a sibling. Details here.

You could try a vistor visa, but they are hard to receive but sometimes they are approved. The cost is minimal and worth the try.

We got our case number 😍

There are some questions :

1. I checked my case status and it showed my case is still at NVC. Since Ankara embassy only carries out Turkish and Turkey's resident interviews , (the embassy mentioned on their website to send your residency card to arrange an interview) , is it necessary to send an email to the embassy and ask them to request my case from NVC or not?

2. We have sent my fiance's court records already, should I take them again?

3. Should my fiance take form I-134 to notary or only signing is enough?

4. Do I need to take the original form I-134 or copied one is acceptable?

5. Does it have a negative impact if my fiance is here with me during my interview or he should be in the united states?

Since Ankara embassy only carries out Turkish and Turkey's resident interviews, (the embassy mentioned on their website to send your residency card to arrange an interview) , is it necessary to send an email to the embassy and ask them to request my case from NVC or not? No, it is not going to sway an early interview. The embassy will request your case file when they deem it appropriate to conduct the interview. I am sure embassies are prioritizing slots with first in first out with what cases are at NVC. When your status changes to "ready" then you can move forward.

2. We have sent my fiancé's court records already, should I take them again? NO

3. Should my fiancé take form I-134 to notary or only signing is enough? A notarized copy is not needed.

4. Do I need to take the original form I-134 or copied one is acceptable? Email and print locally is suitable for the interview.

5. Does it have a negative impact if my fiancé is here with me during my interview or he should be in the united states? Why would you think that? You are going to be a couple, why would you not want him/her there for the interview. Of course, you must check the embassy website to determine if this is feasible. Some embassies will allow it and others not. I am sure with coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic they are limiting the number of people within the embassy for safety reasons.

Here is the P3 for Turkey:

Do we keep the same receipt number from NOA1 to register at NVC? Or do we get a different receipt number for NOA 2? I want to register but I’m not sure if I can yet.

Try either one to see what works for you.

We need a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

Thanks

Did you download a copy of the PDF from the first page first post? Have you read this thread thoroughly to see what others are experiencing? Most here will tell you that is taking 30 to 45 days to get to NVC from USCIS and another 2-4 weeks before a case number is assigned. You're way to early.
