Stumbling upon this page -- easily one of the best things that happened to me this year lol

Extremely grateful, thank you

Glad you are getting the benefits that VJ offers. I recommend that you use the links in the blue bar above and do some exploring. Also, select your flag in your profile. Oh!!!! You don't have a flag. Then let's get that taken care of for the reasons I list below.

We need a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

Thanks

Hello,

I would like to request guidance. I have tried many times to download the document in the google drive link but was unable to.

I am confused what my next steps are. We got the I797 confirmation/approval in the mail but I’m not sure what I need to do next because I feel like I’m finding conflicting information. Do I contact NVC to find out where our application is? Will they contact me?

Can you explain what link so it can be fixed?

My fiance called NVC today. They received our case on 15 DEC. But no case number yet.

They are using 2-4 weeks as their case review yardstick. So you have about 2 more weeks especially with the holidays. "your mileage may vary"

Happy New Year everyone !
it’s been 30 days now since we got our petition approved and yet no response from NVC with our case number.
Has anyone tired calling NVC after 30 days Time frame is over?, is it really any helpful ?
just looking at options whether to call them now or wait for another week or so, as it’s been holidays and festive weekend.
Thanks for any suggestions or thoughts on this.

NVC is not sending any letters until the Embassy requests the file. Calling is not going to move your case to the embassy. Cases from USCIS are taking upwards of 60 days. NVC on the other hand 🖐 is moving along at a much slower than usual pace with a 30 to 45 days to issue a case number.  "your mileage may vary"

Hello @Greenbaum

sorry I’m a bit confused here when you say “NVC is not sending any letters until the Embassy requests the file”

does that mean the USA embassy in my region , which is UAE - US Embassy request the file 🤷🏻‍♂️🤔

I’m lost here for a moment now..

anyway, I decided to wait for another week and maybe try to call them next Monday.

@trliber It’s good to see I’m not alone in this journey, let me know what you’ll be doing and what actions you are planning to take.
TIA!

Yes, The US Embassy Dubai must request your file from NVC. Pre-pandemic NVC would assign a case number and then every other week NVC would send files to the embassies for the interviewing stage of the visa procurement phase. When the pandemic reared its ugly head, things changed and NVC housed the files until such time as the embassy would open to processing K-1 visas, then and only then did NVC send files. Some embassies are open and doing K-1 visas now and others are not.

Check to see if your embassy is processing visas and which ones. If your results return 999 that indicates that they are still not processing that visa type. Your mileage may vary.

Calling to get your case number is a good move but calling to nudge your file forward is a waste of your time and the customer service agent's time, just saying.

Thanks @Greenbaum for your detailed explanation as always 😁☺️
also find the screenshot of the US embassy in my region, so you suggest I call the embassy here and ask about my case number ?
what would be your best advice to me ?
