Today was my interview and we got the K-1 visa approved.
It took about almost 4 hours all together at the US embassy in Abu Dhabi but in the end it was worth it!
It was a lady who interviewed me, and she was so polite and kind. To my knowledge it was super easy and she didn’t even ask for any additional supporting documents for our relationship even though I had a pile of files with me. It was just a few basic generic questions like how we met ? , How many times we met in person ? What are wedding plans ? That’s it,,

Then she handed me a white pamphlet that stated about the rights in the USA ( which is a sign that you’re Approved) , then after 3 min she congratulated me and said, you’re qualified for the K-1 visa and I’ll be receiving my passport in 3/4 days time via post.
It was a super exciting day!!!

Congratulations. I am glad you made it through. All the best

Hey there Zman! Our process has been the same; same months for the approval and case # received, and I was just here to say that our application was deemed "Ready" on Friday! I am excited to hear of an appointment date!

I just checked the status again on the NVC website and our case also says "Ready" :) Are we just waiting to get an email from the Amsterdam Embassy with an appointment date or should I be engaging from my end?

Thank you!

Hey there!

It seems like we are waiting on the appointment letter from the Embassy at this point; my fiancé and I checked the website and they ask for a few conditions to be met, one of them is to have received a letter or an e-mail from the consulate to register.

I just received an email that our I129f has been sent from the NVC to the embassy in Nairobi after not hearing anything since December 31st. So I'm wondering how long should it be expected to take until the US embassy in Nairobi reaches out the my fiancé to schedule her interview? I understand that it obviously depends on the country, but is there a pretty average timeframe that someone could mention about how long it took between the time the US consulate sent their case to the beneficiary's country and the time it took the embassy to contact the beneficiary about scheduling their interview?

I would advise to check your case status. As soon as it changes to Ready, You need to fill out a ds-160 form, pay a visa fee and sign up on us travel docs to schedule an appointment.

Wait, where do I go to check my case status? It seems the website I thought was where I went to check my case status is not what I thought. Plus I thought that they were going to email us to explain when we need to complete those requirements?

And I actually already completed my DS 160 so do I need to complete it again?

Here you can check your case status.

You don't need to fill out the ds 160 if you already did it. You may wait for an email from your embassy but it might take months. I guess it depends on how big a backlog in your embassy. It took them 2 months to send me an email in my country.

Actually, when I go to check my status it tells me "No status". Any idea why that might be? It says the case was created March 24th.

I spoke too soon.. just received an email from NVC saying that my case is now in transit to Amsterdam!  We received our NOA2 in early December so it definitely took a while to get things moving but we are excited :)

Looks like I'm in a similar boat as you! I just received my email from NVC sating our case was in transit to the US embassy in Nairobi so I guess it's going to be a bit of a wait. Has your case gotten to the embassy in Amsterdam yet? If so, how long did it take?

My fiancee's parents just gave us a call saying that the letter has arrived to her house in the Netherlands. The next steps are to complete the DS-160, verify we have all the documents (there's a checklist included... birth certificate, police report, passport photos, etc), and then send an appointment request form (which is included in the letter).

The predicament we are facing.. the DS-160 has a question asking the last time you were in the US. My fiancee is in the US with me currently on her ESTA. I'd assume we'd want to wait until she's back in the Netherlands to complete the DS-160, and I really hope the fact that she was here recently won't impact our interview date.

You should be receiving your letter soon if you haven't already - we seem to be on a similar timeline.

It was really quick to arrive to the Amsterdam embassy. It was about 2 weeks to get to the embassy and then about 2 more weeks to get the letter at her house for next steps. We were really surprised at how quick this was.

Nice! That *is* quick. Glad you all's case is moving along. Hopefully ours can get sent just as quickly!

Update on our case, our visa application reached the embassy in Nairobi and we've been instructed to prepare and schedule our interview!

There are a few things I'm concerned about:

1.) Is the medical examination only allowed to be scheduled after we have scheduled the general visa interview?

2.) On the nvc website, in one place it says that vaccinations are not required for issuance of the visa, and that they will be required later on after we have gotten married and we are adjusting the status. But another place on the site it says that the vaccinations are required and that you must take them before you are issued the visa. Which one is it? Do I need the vaccinations to get the visa or not?

3.) Do we need to provide the Affidavit of support at the interview or can I just email the affidavit of support to the embassy?
