how does the  NVC and  the local Embassy  communicate regarding the case? Is it usually by email? If by email, are the emails sent only to beneficiary or to both petitioner and beneficiary? As a petitioner i want to be promptly updated of all of communication and also because my fiancé is very busy and doesn't check her emails regularly.

It depends on each embassy. Some embassies will mail out the interview packet, others will email the petitioner. In my case, Colombia utilizes email as the mail system is so poor. I will receive an email when they are ready for my fiancé to attend an interview.

We were previously set to interview in Peru. If I remember correctly, Peru mails out the packet to the beneficiary in country (full disclosure, I could be mistaken about this!). I know the mail shut down the majority of last year so I am unsure if they have changed their process. You can see consulate info here https://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Peru&cty=Lima

Yes, and when they answer my calls at the embassy only feedback I get it ,” Wait till you get an email with further instructions”

That’s it ! 😢

I guess will have to just wait and nothing else I can do now. It will be 3 months tomorrow ☹️

This is a bit heartbreaking, we received our case number 2 days ago. Best of luck to you in your journey. We will be following you and looking forward to hear positive updates from you and Abu Dhabi embassy.

Well finally after 3 months, our status changed from “At NVC” and now it shows”Ready” . It took a while to get here though.
now I’ll have to wait for the US embassy in Abu Dhabi to send me an email (P3) and further instructions to book appointment etc.

Hope it moves quicker from here on.
wishing you good luck with your application!

Another quick question:

How will the embassy contact the beneficiary about the P3 letter and further information about visa interview.
In our case , the NVC website says “Case Ready” , but how will the US embassy get our email address?
Might be a silly question , just trying to figure out how they will contact us?
We did updates our address and email with NVC at the beginning , will that be the source ?
mad I don’t recall filling out email address with the initial petition (I-129f form)

TIA for any response or comments

The embassy will mail a letter to a beneficiary

You mean an email or a physical mail to the beneficiary address?
also, will they be using the email address we update at NVC at the beginning as per the PDF file instructions ?
Thanks

In our case, our NVC case was saying "case ready" for 3 weeks and we did not receive any notification from the embassy until we reached out to them directly to get an update. They sent the letter by email.

Thanks @crvepd

I got my email from the US embassy in Abu Dhabi after calling them. However, now I’ve a new issue of not able to book the appointment with the link they sent me.
when I make an account and try to book the K-1 visa appointment, they ask for the case number and DS-160 form number to proceed with the booking. But when I enter my case number, I get an error message saying case not ready for appointment.
I don’t know what’s happening or maybe I’m doing something wrong here 🤔

Should we pay the fees and then make the booking ?
I’ve attached the screenshots for the error message I get; maybe someone encountered with the same issue ?

I posted this a few days ago and I don't think I received a response from anyone so I'm posting again:

So I just received our case number (had to call them to get it). What do I do now? My case is at the NVC (I think) and I was told that the embassy in Nairobi was not processing visas right now due to the pandemic, so I have to wait. But what can I do right now to help speed the process up when they do open up to non immigrant visas? And I'm just wondering what I do now at this point since I've received my case number?

I can tell you what I did.
our case was with NVC from Jan-14 till March-2

after getting the case number you can fill the DS-160 form. Then after 6 weeks I contacted the NVC via ask NVC website and send them an Enquiry. Also, my fiancé in US tried to call them and eventually the case was “In Transit” on March-2

That’s what we did, Hope this helps you.

I had an interview on March 15. There is no visa yet. I've got form g 221. The USCIS did not send ( or lost ) my fiance's divorce decree to the embassy. He has to apply and get another original one. Also, they wanted another document which was not in the requirements list. But the good news is:  the case officer told me once I send them back , my visa will be issued in 5 working days.

Does anyone know once the K-1 visa is issued what is the validity?

is it three or six months time before you could travel to the USA

Thanks

Congratulations!! Happy to hear that. The visa will be valid for six months from the date it was issued. Once the fiancé enters the United States, the marriage must take place within 90 days from the date of entry
