That is for CR-1/IR-1 "immigrant" visa. You are pursuing a "non-immigrant" visa but under the umbrella of "immigrant" until such time as the visa is issued then it reverts to a "non-immigrant with immigration intent". Any reference such as the one you are replying to should be ignored. Further information can be found in my replies to @RishDan.

As a K1, when checking your case online at CEAC.state.gov you have to select "immigrant visa" as it is treated like as such even though it is a "non-immigrant visa".

Technically the K-1 is a non-immigrant visa, but it is treated like an immigrant visa because of the AOS. It is kind of a ba$tard. Non-immigrant treated like an immigrant. Other non-immigrant visas do not usually end up with green cards!  The K-1 on its own is a single entry, brief time limit visa that expires 90 days after POE. You are a non-immigrant (90 days limit) with immigrant intentions (GC). That is why it is a non-immigrant visa treated like an immigrant visa.

Thank You for your reply. I mentioned in my E-mail to Ankara Embassy that My case is a Fiance visa. And as you can see they replied me that your I-129F (which is a K1 visa form) is not here yet.

The best thing is to wait and see what is going on .

I also got my case and invoice numbers via calling. They already had my email address on file so I didn't need to use the Ask NVC form. Now just waiting for it to get sent to the embassy.

If we're at this stage in the process, can my fiancee still fly to the US on her ESTA? We would stay in Turkey for 15 days prior to traveling to the US to avoid the Schengen ban.

Don't do anything in advance until the case is ready at embassy and the embassy sends you an email to the petitioner to follow these steps for Scheduling interview, Medical exam, police clearance etc.  Usually takes about 2 months to receive.

If you find anything not up to date or the information is wrong, please share your findings. Please compare the date of the P3 of mine with the date from your copy, once you receive yours from your embassy. Keep in mind that I try and be factual with my information, but I can't do it on my own and that's where you come in and can give back to the community those who come behind you. Without others ahead of you I would not be able to provide this to you.  I can only share factual information if folks like you continue to be my eyes and ears for your embassy. I wish you much success in your visa journey.

Hello @Greenbaum

Its almost 2 months now since we got our petition approved by USCIS:

Today I went and looked our case status . It said “At NVC” , then I logged into the website ceac.state.gov/iv and was looking for the status of case with NVC, I got this message back.
Does it mean I have to fill the DS-160 form for NVC to send my case to US Embassy in UAE ?
kindly clarify

TIA

No, it said that it is for counselor section. You are advised to fill it right before your interview. I don't know what is NVC priorities to send cases to the embassies. Cuz I see they sent one case that got its case number after me to Ankara embassy and Unfortunately, mine still at NVC 😔

We found out our case number by calling on Jan 12, but our case is still at NVC (3 weeks now). Embassy is open in Korea by the way and they are processing K1 without delays.

It was my understanding that NVC does not review case like CR1, they will only crease case number and put information on the system.

I don't understand why in transit is not happening soon.

If this helps, You’re not alone !
I’m also in the same situation like you, got our petition approved on Dec-2 , obtained the case number on Jan-11 over the phone with NVC, yet the status says “At NVC” and its more than 3 weeks now.
US embassy in Abu Dhabi is conducting K-1 interviews and someone in VJ community had their K-1 Visa interview on Jan-20, 2021 and also got the visa approved.
That couple responded to my question: their case was taken from NVC to US Embassy in Abu Dhabi in 2 weeks time, but again not all the cases are the same and you can’t compare Apple to Apple here.
I guess we have to just wait patiently like we did for NOA-2 Approval , till the status change with NVC to “In Transit” from “At NVC”

If I have my case number from the NVC, but my embassy (Cairo) is still only processing emergency things, is waiting all that I can do at this point? I've tried reaching out to my congressman to help and they've actually been super responsive. They had someone reach out to the embassy on my behalf, but got the same spiel of saying they didn't know when they'd resume other services again :(

You are not alone. Our timelines are almost the same. My fiance called the Nvc to get our case number and was told that the Ankara embassy isn't getting new cases from Nvc due to the previous piled up ones. So I don't know how much it's going to take.  I'm also confused about ds-160 form. Should we wait to fill it up or fill it up now? is there any benefits of waiting?

I'm in a same situation as you guys. Our case has been at the NVC since December 23rd. I don't know why for some people it takes only a few weeks and for others it takes months. I had a thought that perhaps the NVC is doing our background checks and maybe for those who traveled a lot or lived in different countries it takes more time than for those who didn't travel much.  I have traveled to many countries maybe that's why it is taking more time for us.  How about you guys ?  Has the beneficiary traveled or lived abroad much?
