YouTube said it suspended right-wing channel One America News for one week, beginning Tuesday, for violating its policy against misinformation related to the covid-19 pandemic and temporarily stripped the channel of its ability to make money from other videos.

 

The action against OAN, which President Trump’s allies have praised in recent weeks while raging against Fox News for supposed disloyalty during and after this month’s election, was the latest sign that Silicon Valley was prepared to enforce policies against false and misleading information — even against those aligned with the president.

YouTube spokeswoman Ivy Choi said OAN, which has 1.2 million subscribers on the video service and sees some of its posts reach hundreds of thousands of viewers, violated the policy against portraying a covid-19 remedy as a cure for the illness that has killed more than 258,000 Americans and 1.4 million people worldwide.

I don’t really follow social media platforms much other than VJ, so I guess this might be the case.  I heard Parler does not editorialize their platform like Twitter and FB.

You know what the amazing thing is? Registering requires a phone number so I heard. And to be verified to use the site apparently they request you give them ID cards and SSNs... and now the hackers got that too. All for a knockoff 'twitter' checkmark.

 

I scratch my head and wonder who on earth would give a social media 'company' this kind of information... but then again I guess they did Nazi.. this coming? 😉

not seeing anything of the sort.  they do want a driver's license or passport to verify you are real.

Apparently the SSN thing is real, as there is a subset of individuals (and I'm not familiar how the entirety of Parler works) where they will ask for SSNs to verify you. Not talking about the standard sign ups, but one particular type of tier of persons called influencers. There were multiple articles that discussed this with privacy concerns this year. It's also covered in their PP+TOS.

 

The hackers got all of that high target info + DMs.
