Is it possible for my [30/M/Pakistan] boyfriend [25/M/NYC] and I to have an online marriage and sign papers via courier?

So, I did spent 20 days with my boyfriend just now in my city, from the beginning of October to the 20th, and while we wished we could have married, we weren't able to.

A friend of mine did a remote marriage with his fiancé on Facebook just now. He is in Australia and she is in my city, she signed the wedding papers necessary and they couriered the documents to him and he signed them when he got them.

I want to know if a similar situation is possible for me and him to do the same? Where he can initiate the wedding from the USA with witnesses and then couriers me the document to sign with a witness and I courier it back to him to begin processing at his local court? I do have a couple of people who can happily sign for me as witnesses.

and yes, before I get the flood of questions. we both talked it through. we both shared the same room. same bed. etc for 20 days. we are completely and utterly happy with each other. I searched every possible loophole i could to try and get a marriage possible here but I couldn't. So before the barrage comes in, we are both comfortable and more than looking forward to marriage.

A proxy marriage is not valid for immigration unless it has bern “consummated” (in other words, you have both been in each other’s physical presence) prior to filing the petition. So it serves no purpose. You have to wait until you are physically together before you can file anyway so you may as well wait until you are together to marry the regular way, face-to-face and avoid all the gray areas that proxy marriage brings.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

But we were together for 20 days in my country. I have a plethora of pictures, he has his boarding pass, visa and more to prove we were together.

For a proxy ,marriage to recognized by the US for immigration purposes, you have to be physically together  AFTER the marriage is conducted.....and before filing the I-130.

You were not married during that time.

well hopefully it won't come to that. I am going to Germany soon for studies and we have some future stuff planned there. I was just exploring all options since Germany is still 5-6 months away.

If you are residing in Germany as a student then you should be able to be interviewed there.  The interview would probably be easier for your case than if it was conducted in Islamabad.  But your case will still go to AP because they will need to do a background check in Pakistan.

There is another couple here on VJ who's spouse has been in AP for months.  The spouse is in Germany but the processing from Pakistan is still ongoing.

But you will still likely face an extended period of AP purely based on the fact that Pakistan does not have a reliable criminal records database so the US government has to conduct their own background checks on prospective immigrants and those checks are not fast.

can you elaborate on what AP is and how long the process would take?

Administrative Processing. It takes as long as it takes. Could be weeks, more likely to be months, in some cases it’s years. It’s the necessary background checks before the visa can be issued.

Well I talked about him a few days ago. My plan is to marry in Sweden right after my first year of study finishes. During my 2 semesters of thesis, and if it goes longer than my thesis, i'll just work locally until it clears. At least in the end I have Germany. I've learned German to B2 with a certification in it as well, so I should be good.
