IATF Resolution 80 lifted the COVID testing requirement for outbound non-essential travel.  No test required by the Philippines for any outbound travel unless it is a requirement of the airline or the destination.

Silly question but is K1 visa travel considered non-essential?

Flying out of Manila and I was thinking Emirates would be best because they fly to Houston.  Emirates does require covid testing and in Manila that is costing about 8,000p.  Philippines air lines is a consideration but they don't fly to Houston which means she would land at LAX and who knows what California is going to be like in the first part of December.

We are looking at Manila to Japan to Dallas.  American Airlines being the last leg. No covid test needed. 4 hour layover. Right now cost is about 650. Still too early to buy as our interview is still two weeks out.

I looked into using Emirates or Qatar to the U.S. and the total flying time is brutal.  Much shorter flying to LAX or SFO, direct, connecting to IAH.  Philippine Airlines can probably book it as one ticket to Houston and the LAX/IAH leg is probably cheaper that way.  And the bags will be checked through all they way.

If you decide to fly over the middle east, check out Qatar.  My friends say they are much nicer than Emirates.  I'm not sure if they are flying to the Philippines now.

Manila-Tokyo-Dallas is the same route my USC fiancé used in August 2020. No COVID test required.

Is that flight happening?

I had it booked March and August and both of them were cancelled by AA both time, I know that was months ago.

If you want to book thru Delta Website, you can catch Korean Air to Incheon South Korea and then direct to Dallas.  The a pretty good flight and used to be a fairly empty flight and better food, if they still have it going.  Korean Air is Air Partners with Delta. I used to fly Delta alot back and forth to Philippines back when I was boycotting American Airlines.

If you fly PAL to USA do you have to have a COVID test?

According to this, if you are going to the U.S., no test required.

For destinations that require a test, PAL has their own test facility and it is p4500.

According to PAL, Filipinos can leave on non-essential travel.

My two US citizen friends flew from Panglao Island (near Bohol) three weeks ago. They had to fly to Manila first and had to get a barangay clearance, LGU clearance, police clearance, and medical clearances. There was no COVID swab test in the U.S. or the Philippines.

What finally convinced the embassy to release your visa?

I've been looking at JAL to go to LA. Less than $500 one way. Only a 2 hour layover in Japan. No swab test or documentation required for a short layover in Japan.

As soon as she gets here I will tell the whole story.   This should have never happened.

K1 Visa has finally been issued, now focus shifts to travel.  What are the requirements for travel and are there any recommendations on airlines?  Is covid testing required?  Please someone with first hand current knowledge only,  too much confusion caused by opinions and rumors,  need the true facts.   Thanks so very much.

Hi!

Congratulations!

My fiancè went back to US last Oct 28. Direct flight from Manila to ORD Chicago through Eva Air.  Layover was in Japan, no covid test required in transit through Japan. Then he booked a flight from Chicago to TN for a business trip. Don't know if this helps you but you have to check new airline updates and the country's updates where the layover will be as it may change from time to time.

P.S.

He did not do any lab test for covid.  Can enter MNl Airport as long as you have your itinerary and valid ID.  Eva Air at that time did not require negative covid test. Please also check if these are applicable to Filipinos like me hehehe. Sometimes it matters.

We are looking at Japan air from Manila to Japan the American airlines to Dallas. There are two American flights out of Japan to Dallas. AA 8439 fly out in the morning from Japan and arrives 7am Dallas time. According to flight activity log, there are 4 flights a week . Over the last couple weeks no cancelations. Flight AA60 leaves Japan late afternoon and arrives around 2pm. The activity log for it, shows its a daily flight.  But the last two Tuesdays it was cancelled, and once on Sunday. But again that is as of today. Hopefully nothing will change so we all can get our loved ones here.

Layover was in Japan on Eva???? Do you mean Taiwan?

The United States is now a country obsessed with the worship of its own ignorance.  Americans are proud of not knowing things.  They have reached a point where ignorance, is an actual virtue.  To reject the advice of experts is to assert autonomy, a way for Americans to insulate their increasingly fragile egos from ever being told they're wrong about anything.  It is a new Declaration of Independence: no longer do we hold these truths to be self-evident, we hold all truths to be self-evident, even the ones that arent true.  All things are knowable and every opinion on any subject is as good as any other.  The fundamental knowledge of the average American is now so low that it has crashed through the floor of "uninformed", passed "misinformed", on the way down, and now plummeting to "aggressively wrong."
