(CBS News) - A small, but growing, number of Republicans have a message for President Trump: The election is over and he lost. Now it’s time to move on.

The message became louder over the weekend, after a far-fetched press conference by Trump lawyers Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell and Jenna Ellis on unfounded mass election fraud, which Trump ally and former New Jersey governor Chris Christie called a “national embarrassment.”

“I have been a supporter of the president’s. I voted for him twice,” Christie said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week.” “But elections have consequences, and we cannot continue to act as if something happened here that didn’t happen.”

On Saturday, the Trump campaign suffered a big loss as a federal judge in Pennsylvania dismissed a lawsuit trying to invalidate millions of votes in that state as full of “strained legal arguments” that were “unsupported by evidence.”

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, a popular Republican in a fiercely Democratic state, told the president Sunday to “stop golfing and concede,” after Mr. Trump called him a “RINO,” or Republican in name only. Hogan and his wife secured critical testing equipment on their own when the federal government failed to come through. Hogan recognized Biden’s victory on November 7, the day major networks including CBS News called the race for the president-elect.

Former Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) said Sunday that many of his fellow Republicans are afraid to speak out against President Trump's baseless claims about election fraud due to fears of facing Trump-backed challengers in their home states.

In an interview with NPR, the former 2016 GOP primary contender said that other members of his party are "either in complete lockstep with [Trump] or they're afraid of him."

"They're afraid that they'll be primaried or they're afraid they'll be severely criticized," he said in an interview on "All Things Considered."

"And it's a pretty remarkable situation."

"[Biden] has clearly won this election and it is just sort of amazing to me that Republicans just keep sitting on their hands. It makes no sense," he continued.

As President Donald Trump’s attempts to overthrow President-elect Joe Biden’s election victory continue to get thrown out of court, a Republican congressman in one of the states Trump is trying to subvert the will of the voters is telling him “it’s over.”

Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI), who has called Michigan Republicans’ attempt to pass legislation to overturn the state’s election results a “dead end,” appeared on CNN on Sunday morning to further push back on the president’s pressure campaign to get Michigan legislators to award him the state.

“You know what? The voters have spoken,” he said. “No one has come up with any evidence of fraud or abuse. All 83 counties have certified their own election results. Those will be officially tabulated or should be tomorrow.”

Everyone is so obsessed with concession which is actually meaningless in the grand scheme of things.  Assuming nothing changes, Joe Biden will be elected President on December 14th, and the transition can begin regardless of what Trump does.

I couldn't care less whether he golfs, fishes, or sits in his jammies eating cheerios and watching TV. He is as relevant to the process as he chooses to be.

We do need to have him be clear to the GSA and his staff that they will support the incoming Biden team to make sure they are successful in behalf of the people. There is no upside for delaying. History shows us how costly delays can be (9/11)

Not so much about what Trump does, but about what other Republicans do. As much as I've seen people express a desire for less polarized government, I think the impression that Republicans are digging in behind Trump is going to provoke a similar reaction in some Democrats and I'm seeing it already. I did want people to make note that not everyone on the right is agreeing with Trump's approach. Many are ready to move forward and respect the Democratic process.

"Stop golfing and concede" was just Hogans comment. Unfortunately the thread title has to match the article, but the main point was more that many Republicans are saying it's over and acknowledging Biden won.

I don't even think Trump believes it at this point. He is trying to make things harder for Biden.

Maybe he is having the FBI/CIA spy on Biden?

Hard to say. I'm sure he feels like it's fair (as you said), but we will see how it turns out. Trump supporters will hang on till the bitter end, but others will not. There are still 2 important runoff elections coming up in GA. There could be repercussions depending on how this is all perceived. Georgia voters probably won't be happy about paying for a 3rd count. Maybe that tips a close runoff in the other direction.
