Strategies for timing travel for medical exam and interview?

We’re CR1 but applicant lives in Saskatchewan. So it’s a flight to get to any of the approved doctors, as well as to the consulate.

does anyone have experience managing to dovetail the two into one trip? COVID complications aside? I know there may be many months before we get an interview scheduled (just got our NVC today after submitting I-130 late august), but I’m thinking ahead bc we will have to save to afford that much travel if we can’t do it all in one trip.

I hope I’m posting this in the right place... still getting used to these forums!

So you used to be able to do this in 1 trip.  However, due to extended time for the results in Montreal (now they're at 10-14 days instead of the previous 3) then two trips will be needed to do the medical and the interview unless someone wants to rent a house/apt/hotel for 2-3 weeks in Montreal.

I agree that she should call Dr Cheema in Surrey and Medisys (or whatever they're called now) in Montreal to find out what the turn around time is for the exam results.  Find out if the exam results are emailed to the consulate or if she needs to pick them up or have them sent.  Then plan accordingly to these answers. This information may be available on the PDF for preparing for an interview but I'm not sure if that pdf has been updated.

If she doesn't have the results back in time but the Dr office can send them to the consulate she can continue with the interview and it will just delay having the visa issued until the consulate can get the medical results.

I got my exam done last Tuesday the 17th in Montreal, they quoted me 5 business days for results however by Thursday the 19th they had already sent my medical to the consulate and I got my X-ray by courier that is for me to take with me when I move by Friday the 20th.

I think more data on medical turn around will come out in the next several weeks - my advice is plan for two trips BUT check-in to see where we are in a few months as things may improve.

When we first resumed rescheduling interviews, we were seeing longer turn around times for medicals BUT it seems that since then most (maybe all) of the panel physicians have implemented e-medical to send the results to the consulate electronically and with time we are seeing people report shorter turn arounds again.

Thanks everyone for updating medical turn around timelines for people.  It is helpful to have this knowledge!
