Hi - I am a G-1 visa holder who has recently married a US citizen. I'm currently filling out an I - 485 and am stuck on a couple of points.

The first is where it asks for the expiration date on my I-94. Mine says 'G-1 D/S', as I already work in the US. Is it ok to just write that?

The main thing that I'm stuck on is Part 2.

My spouse is filling out forms I-864 and I-130 and we are intending to send them at the same time.

I was going to answer A, but am wondering if I should answer H and add an explanation saying that I am sending the petition at the same time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks! :)

ok, so i think i just need to put A for part 2.

I am also now wondering if I have to send my medical examination (I-693) when I send I- 485 - I've heard that it will expire after a year and it's better to wait until the government requests it.

does anybody know if this right - i'd rather hold off on the exam until I have a bit more cash.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Yes, "A" is the correct answer for all marriage based AOS applications apart from those on K-1 visas. No need to add any "explanation"

I assume you plan on sending I-130 and I-485 in the same envelope? Its not clear from your original post. If not you should do that.

Yes, you need to send in the medical exam with the application in the same envelope as everything else. If you don't you'll get an "Request for Initial Evidence" which will hold up your case".

For your expiration date, you should probably write the expiration date on your G-1 visa, if it has one, as your I-94 doesn't have an expiration date (common with for example, F-1 visas). I'm not really familiar with the workings of a diplomatic visa.

thanks Dr LHA!

yeah - I was planning to send everything in the same envelope - the expiration date on my visa is 27th october 2007, so i'll put that down for the I - 94 question. At the moment I'm working for the government, so my visa will be renewed later in the year.

Thanks again - you've been a big help!
