Just want to get some general feedback regarding filing and approval for the I-751. Upon researching on the USCIS website it seems that this process is going to take upwards of 21-40 months to be processed. I am assuming because of Covid. I can see peoples timelines that were posted here pre-covid and those seemed to have taken around a year. My questions for anyone on here. Has anyone filed recently and at least received a receipt number from USCIS? We filed a week ago(11/15/20). And if you received a receipt did they give you a general timeline of when you should be hearing back from them? Thanks guys.

Edit : I forgot to mention we mailed ours into the Arizona lockbox facility as instructed on the USCIS website. So I don't know if it will be processed there or somewhere else...

They don't give you any idea.  Local office workload is the big factor.  We filed my wife's I-751 in March 2019.  Since May 2019, we have been waiting for an interview.  We received her extension letter in 7 days after USCIS received the package.

We filed in May 2019 and got Interview (Combo with N-400) 21 months later.  Filing I-751 was always at least 12 to 24 months. COVID isn't helping for many especially if they require an interview.

You should get your receipt/extension letter 30 to 60 days after filing. Once you get it. It's sit and wait. Biometrics appointments come when they come. Ours came 10 months after filing. Some get letter that they reused biometrics on file.

You just filed so it's a waiting game. You will know your service center once you get your letter. Phoenix Arizona where you sent your package is just the receiving center they send to the assigned Service center.

Hey all! I'm wondering whether we should go ahead and complete the N-400 application. We sent in the I-751 in September 2019, did Biometrics in October 2019 and have been waiting for an interview since March 2020. We haven't heard anything else since then (I understand COVID has slowed things down also), but hubby's been eligible to apply for N-400 since September 2020. We didn't want to delay the approval of the I-751 so we've been waiting. Any suggestions? Case is currently at National Benefits Center.

Since he came here on a spousal visa you guys are 99% guaranteed to get an interview for the i-751 (I also assume his receipt number starts with MSC?). So if I were in your situation I would definitely file the N-400 asap when eligible, that way you're likely to get a combo interview and won't have to be interviewed twice. It's a matter of preference, some people would prefer to wait out the i-751 and have that step done first, while others (like me) would rather file asap when I already know I'm getting an interview for my i-751 anyway.

Yes. His receipt number starts with MSC. I'm thinking we'll go ahead and file the N-400, I read somewhere on here that filing the N-400 yanks the I-751 "out of line". We've already waited 8 months since the status changed to "ready to be schedule for an interview" so I'm hoping that filing this doesn't add another 12 months on top, lol. Also, a friend of mine didn't get an interview for ROC, but he didn't end up at NBC, I believe he was at TSC. He just received his naturalization.
