Hello friends! I hope someone can help me answer this question as I have been unable to find a sure answer anywhere. My husband will be entering the US soon to activate his greencard. Once he has done that, how long do we have to wait before he is able to leave the US again? I just want to be sure because we are wanting to go back to the UK for New Year, but we did not want to risk it because I know it will take some time for the actual physical greencard to come in. I would appreciate any help. Thank you so much!

He can leave immediately after getting his immigrant visa endorsed......immediately...same day if he wants....  The stamped/endorsed visa acts as a green card until the plastic one arrives.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

awww perfect! so he should not have an issue coming back to US again after leaving? Thank you so much!!

There should be no issue at all in re-entering the US.  Being able to leave immediately to finish business, etc, then returning,  is one of the big advantages of a CR-1 vs a K-1.

You can literally come, get your green card endorsed and take the next flight back to UK. As in that simple
