    I do too.

I had a great conversation last year with a trainer at a gym who was once obese but now in great shape and a real health fanatic. He had a unique take and understanding of how difficult it actually is for someone who is obese and hasn't been excercising to get started and to stay motivated in a public setting. He said he just tries to make sure beginners stay positive and motivated so they want to come back for the next session and he tries to get in a routine with whatever they are capable of. After a few weeks natural progress takes over. He also said he hates how the typical lifelong trainers who have always been in great shape don't seem to understand that not everybody is wired that way. Many just tend to yell louder and it doesn't really work for people who have a difficult time being there in the first place. They often don't even come back. I rarely talk when I'm working out, but I do try to speak up and encourage people a little more since hearing that..

That's the thing is that I understand that the bigger someone is the harder it is for them to do things. So when I was going to the gym in CA and see those type of people I would give them a fist bump with a "Good job, keep it up bro". Which the most rewarding thing for me was their smile and seeing them in the gym again.

I saw this awesome news story a couple years ago of a obese woman (400+) and her weight loss story. She was already big and her being pregnant just caused her to gain more weight. So when she had the baby she started going to the gym with a trainer, by the time the story aired she had already lost 30 pounds, and there was a gofundme to help her pay for more lessons with the trainer. So I happily pitched in $10 so that she can lose more weight.

Are you against fat shaming now, or just that Cuomo did it?

I hate fat shaming..... You see this in some bad gyms sometimes and it is INFURIATING.... If I see a obese person in the gym gettin it in then I try to encourage them no matter what not fat shame them.

Right? There's also a difference between offering critical advice and just being a terrible person. Fatness is not something to be encouraged (thus, someone at a gym actively trying to do something about it should be encouraged), and the vast majority of fat people are fat because of bad choices. The idea of trying to make people support bad choices is far worse than shaming. Before wife got degrees in Accounting and HR she was a nurse, I remember at banquets and other get togethers we'd talk to generalists or hepatologists just scared s-less because they were seeing such a high abundance of people in their teens and twenties for advanced liver disease, and it wasn't from drugs or alcohol either. And this was in Canada, not in the US where the problem is way worse. The culture of excess (spurred by the toxic idea of infinite growth) is something that needs to die.

The reason to lose weight isn't merely because of a number that pops up on a scale, or a pointless BMI calculation someone pulled out of a random body orifice. It's because of health issues that arise from that weight. Those people who are naturally (genetically) fat, those people will not exhibit the litany of health conditions that arise in the vast majority of people as they gain weight.

my doctors tell me i need to lose weight all the time. very bluntly. i appreciate their honesty

of course i do try to exercise as much as i can, but thats kind of limited atm due to some really bad nagging injuries for which i need to see another doctor for and some physiological issues

i dont actually do it to others because i dont know their journey, but it doesnt bother me when someone does it to me. its like i know i know 😄

A Catch-22 -- the injuries hinder losing weight, and the unlost weight can exacerbate the injuries.

A doc once told me that just everyone has a weight cutoff, above which level they'll begin to have physical problems (orthopedic, muscular, etc.).

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

At least you can walk (it's presumed).  Wishing you a rapid reversal of the troublesome conditions.
