Although an apostille is not required for I-130, does it suffice as a translation? 
I needed an apostille for additional reasons and it provides translation for majority of my wedding certificate. Would that suffice or do in need to get an additional translation? Does the translation for documents submitted for I-130 need to have any particular stamp or authorization? Thank you!

Yes, I understand that apostille is not necessary but translation is. I already have apostille and it provides majority of the document with translation. So I am just wondering if I can use that instead of paying for a translation. Do you know if the translation needs to be certified? Thank you!

Please read instructions for I-130 on translations. Even the beneficiary or petitioner can do the translation if they speak the language.

Oh hvala! Thank you so much. My husband can translate then. That’s awesome. Do you happen to know if we need to create the page to look like the original...for example if the original document has information in a grid, do we need to replicate at grid or just provide the text? Thank you!

If you can make it look as close to the original document as possible I'd do that. BUT, you do know that most of the regular documents in Balkans come in the international version? Birth certificate - you can get in international version - same for marriage certificate (one is on blue paper with a bunch of different languages at the bottom listed as translation, the other one is on yellow paper).

certified can sound confusing, but during the whole process, anyone who is fluent in the language and do it and certify it.

Apostille or any kind of official translation (e.g. but a government official or someone otherwise legally authorized to make translations abroad) is not necessary. But if you get one of those, then yes it is acceptable.

If you can make it look as close as possible then do so. But generally a document following the general layout is good enough. You can also just grab a pen and write (1), (2), (3)... next to each item on the original and translation to further distinguish them, but that's not necessary unless you are translating something really dense with parts being irrelevant like bank records for an EB-5.

 

Yes your husband can do a translation unless he's a party to the case in some way (e.g. petitioner or a derivative beneficiary) since at that point it's considered self-serving. At that point you need somebody, anybody else, to do it.
