What if you don't enter the US within the 6 months after interview?

Hi, we are waiting on an interview date from the consulate and are wondering what happens if we don't enter the US within the 6 months of being issued the visa? I'm thinking if we can't find employment or if things get really dangerous over there, etc. Do we have to start the process all over again?

You can request a reissue ( starting at the ds260 stage and resubmiting refreshed documents) but a reissuance is at the consulates discretion and is not guaranteed

YMMV

If you are not sure you'll be able to move, it might be easiest to delay your medical exam/interview.
