Expedite CR1/IR1 interview 14 day COVID quarantine-Ankara, Turkey

My CR1/IR1 case has been expedited and file has been received by US Embassy in Ankara, Turkey.

US Embassy Ankara, Turkey informed me that once Beneficiary has been in Turkey physically for 14 days (COVID restrictions) they would schedule interview.

I have sent them proof of this several times and I have not heard back from them.

Has anyone else run into this problem?

Should I just keep trying to make an appointment online via https://ais.usvisa-info.com/?

There aren't any appointments available on https://ais.usvisa-info.com/. Has anyone been able to obtain appointments via this website?

I keep reading on VJ that many Embassies release interview date openings at the end of the month for the next month. Are they accessible on this website?

Has anyone had better luck calling the embassy directly?

I appreciate any insight on this situation.

We got DQ back in May 2020.
I requested expedite several times and was finally granted expedite in October 2020. Still waiting on interview.

so if u got DQ in September and aren’t expedited, then  I have no idea how long it will take.
Iraq embassy will not answer you as they are completely shut down due to attacks on embassy long before covid.
Ankara embassy wont answer you because they haven’t been sent your case yet.  You would have better luck calling NVC. But even then I don’t think they would give u a timeline.
The embassy you are assigned will tell NVC when they can accept more cases. Then NVC sends embassy cases in order if DQ.

Honestly, I think Ankara is better at the moment. I have heard that Doha and Abu Dhabi are still not interviewing, or they arent doing as many interviews as Ankara.
I wish u the best

that's a relief I thank you so much for responding, I though Ankara was the worst and super slow because I read on their embassy website that currently they're only doing visa for Turkish citizen

https://tr.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/

hopefully they're working on our cases as well I just can't imagine them taking a year or so.

I read that as well.  I dont know if that is true. I only say that because my husband got expedited at Ankara. Neither my husband nor I are Turkish citizens. But, we were expedited. So I dont know if that makes a difference.
only they know what is going on and they never share information. Makes ppl crazy

Hey. Were all of your expedite requests for the same reason? I got denied and I was told that you shouldn’t send the same expedite because the embassy won’t even look at it. So you would need to add something and use a different reason

Yes mine were all for same reason. I think the last time I had better documentation. Or they were sick of me. Lol who knows.  Or maybe my case number was next in line anyway. I mean hell we got DQ in May 2020 and expedited in October 2020. I just got the interview date for next month. So in perspective compared to a lot of other people on VJ my uscis phase was longer, my NVC phase was longer and my expedite phase was longer. No clue as to why. I just saw someone go from first applying with I-130 to DQ in 63 days.
my point is that I have absolutely no idea what the magic is behind when and how anyone gets through each stage. Even the reasons that ppl get expedited aren’t consistent. I ve been told that it is up to the Embassy if they accept your reason.

Interview went well. The interviewer said everything looks really good, but need to fill out DS-5535. He said they would send the form in 10 minutes via email. They didnt. So I emailed them, nothing. Called, embassy said u cant call. Emailed again. Nothing. Finally found form online and filled it out. Sent it via email in PDF. They emailed back and sent me the form in word and said they dont accept it in pdf. I sent it in word. Now Im told it is processing.
So now stuck in the black hole. No idea how long.
I cant find anyone that has gone through this since COVID started.

This really sucks I'm so sorry you had to go through this i just learnt that not everyone gets this form it all depends on who does the interview with you ( the officer)

I hope you will hear good news very soon

your case is just giving me hope because we have been waiting for so long to the point I lost hope and said ( they won't process any visa until pandemic is over) because they kept telling me they are working on Turkish citizens cases only.

Also thank you for sharing you experience because ill fill that form before the interview just in case I get salty officer.

I wish you the best!

Yeah. I wish we knew about this form before interview. I cant figure out a definite as to why and who gets this additional “extreme vetting”. What I have found it is for people that are from MENA countries. But not all the people from MENA get it.
My lawyer didnt even tell me about it being a possibility. Its very hard to think you are finally at the end and then get it could be 2 weeks or a year before it gets approved.
Its not just the wait time of being apart for longer, its that it is extremely dangerous in Iraq for certain people.
inshallah it will be short wait for them to evaluate the form.
By the way, the only reason why we got interviewed in Turkey is cause they accepted expedite request. Otherwise we would be stuck until they opened up non Turkish citizens/residents.
