K-1 Interviews for those living abroad

Hi all,

Have been advised by the kindly Sheriff to make a new thread about this, so here goes!

I'm an Australian national currently living in London (have been here just under three years, on the Ancestry Visa, so have full working and living rights until it expires in June 2008, but don't have UK citizenship or full residential status). My fiancé is about to file the first documentation in our K-1 journey, and I was wondering if anyone knows whether I'll be able to go for my interview at the US consulate here in London, or if they'll only process things through the US consulate in Aus.

Would be especially glad to hear from anyone else who went through this process with three countries involved, and not just two!

Many thanks in advance for any advice / information.

:)

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

If you have legal residency in the UK (at the time of your visa interview), you should be able to have your interview for the K1 visa at the US Embassy/Consulate in London....no need to fly back to Australia. Most consulates proceed this way. In fact in the I-129F, there is a question, pertaining to this....which consulate do you want to interview at. You can put London there.

Good luck!

thank you; that's a load off my mind... can anyone confirm? (not that I doubt you, Paula&Minya; I just like to amass evidence ;) )

incidentally, if all goes to plan I'll be moving to Houston at the end of this journey... nice little coincidence :)
