Changing the date of your N400 interview?

I just got my interview scheduled (NYC Manhattan field office), and the date is super problematic for me

Obviously, it took so long to get scheduled in the first place (between my filing date and interview, it will have been close to 15 months) that I am loath to ask for a different date but ..
Does anyone have experience trying to get a different date? How much of a delay did it add to getting your interview? Do you have anything to share about what the process was like?

Thank you so much for your inputs!

Heard horror stories about trying to reschedule, even pre Covid. Would do the hell and high water thing to meet the appointment if possible.

(I seem to recall seeing that if the next date they give you also doesn’t work and you try reschedule a second time, they may deny the application and you’ll have to start all over again. I don’t have time to try look that up now.)

I agree with SusieQQQ

Make it happen. Get it done, you've waited long enough.

For folks who would like an update: I asked my attorney, who inquired with other colleagues who work with the Manhattan USCIS office, and I was told "at least 1-3 months", but it could also be longer - and Covid adds more uncertainty

So in between this feedback and the feedback in this community, I think it means that though it's problematic for me, I'm just going to deal

Thank you to everyone for contributing their inputs!
