Many Canadians are under the impression they can keep their health care because how easy it is for snowbirds and  many have done just what the OP said. Sadly The provinces think otherwise and have been cracking down on this. They have been going after many many ppl for doing just that. It may take a bit before someone is caught but they will be caught and the Provinces will collect the money owed.

As for when they are in USA, I am able to put my parents as defendants under my health care coverage, as long as they will be listed as defendants in my tax filing which would be the case.

I think you mean dependents.  That would be highly unusual.  In all my years in health care, I have never come across any employer-based insurance that allows the employee to include retired parents on the plan.

I suggest you research this fully, before making this assumption.

I’m also curious, according to my limited and possibly incorrect understanding, to be a tax dependent one has to earn less than $4200 per year. Is Canadian pension really so low?
