Hi everyone! i am filling for my son who is over 21 an live in Jamaica.

uscis is requesting a census records and baptism/Christian records. Etc

1)anyone know how I go about getting a census records?

 2) and if the child wasn’t Christian? Will the secondary evidence be enough?
(Secondary evidence is to write a type letter of why documents is not available)

I don't think Religion will play a factor in his immigration. I think the request for those records are to show the parent child relationship. Although, I could be wrong.

Also, since he is over 21, he is considered an adult. Therefore, it is going to be a few years before he gets a visa. And he must remain unmarried.

This is in addition to a birth certificate?

Was the child baptized in any kind of faith?  School Records as a child, anything that you can provide that shows your name as the parent in JA.

Is this a new requirement from USCIS? As the mother, a birth certificate should suffice. That is also the steel proof document that best establishes a relationship like yours. I would seek clarification from USCIS. Review the instructions that come with the I-130 petition for alien relative form and double check the docs needed. I can tell you that some of these agents only talk and don’t know much. Also, when you call USCIS, ask to speak to a Tier 2 Agent.

I hope this helps.

Depends. My daughter only had a short form birth certificate issued at birth and the long form (that lists parent names) only later for a visa. If the long form one was issued more than a year after birth, they require more evidence to prove the child is actually yours. I have seen this reported many times across many countries. I personally did the easy-but-expensive option of DNA rather than trying to track down documents from years ago.

I see. I never had that issue so I can understand how that would be possible.

No, he was not baptized. I have all the school records, immunization card, birth certificate, and two notary affidavit.

Is this because of later registered birth certificate? Do they give dna as an option?

Yes, late birth registration. I am doing the application online. And there is a DNA option, but someone said you can only submit dna only when uscis request it.

It’s because of the late birth registry. They need me to Prove, I’m the mother of the child. so they want a whole lot of stuff. Thanks for your advice.

Ah, I somehow thought you already submitted the application and had been asked to send further evidence (where they always list dna as an option). Anyway it sounds like you have decent supporting evidence.

We provided school records from the schools she attended (basic, primary and high school). We didn't need DNA. This was provided after the interview when requested.

That’s interesting. I was asked to provide contemporaneous evidence from during the first year after birth.
