As a fiscal conservative, I don't really support any student loan cancellation. I would like to see reforms to keep down the cost of secondary school, but cancelling loan debt is a slippery slope. There are a lot of younger people in my field nowadays and some of them busted their butts driving old beaters and eating sandwiches to pay off loan debt. Others drive a brand new Lexus and go on vacation all the time and complain about how long it's going to take to pay off their loans.

I think $10000 in student loan cancellation has been supported by both parties. It may happen and if it does, so be it, I guess. My parents helped me with some school costs. I expect to do that with my kids. Cancelling student loan debt is the opposite. Ultimately it is like asking your own young kids to pay for your education. I don't see that as something good.

It's a huge issue, but don't put a band aid on it. Fix the problem.

Too much free guaranteed money available to the Universities.  What is interesting is the banks are the ones that seem to get the blame for all of this, no one looks at the insatiable thirst for money of the schools.

Just make student debt subject to the same Bankruptcy rules as any other debt problem solved.

And the uselessness of these degrees being pushed. Those people wind up with this warped meritocratic sense of entitlement because they got a worthless degree and didn't learn any valuable skills their industry needs. People want their freedom to pick whatever ridiculous degree they feel like getting, then want taxpayers to pay for the consequences of it. No thanks.

The entire mentality/myth that to have any success, one has to go to college is just wrong.  I know a lot of folks making a lot of money in a good trade, with little to no debt, and a lot of job security, but for some reason these folks are considered uneducated by the elite college grads that got their Humanities degree, but calls them when they need something fixed.

Hard-Working Plumber Looking Forward To Paying For His Neighbor’s Gender Studies Degree

PADUCAH, KY—With Democrats proposing the mass cancellation of student debt, successful Americans around the country are really looking forward to paying taxes to relieve the debt of people who purchased expensive yet useless college degrees. One local plumbing contractor, Sam Caughorn, is really looking forward to paying the tab on his neighbor's $89,000 gender studies degree.

"Listen, I'm just a plumber," he said. "I didn't go to college, but I work hard and support my family. I don't know about all that high-falutin gender stuff they teach in college, but I'm sure it must be important since it's so expensive! Happy to help out another person in need."

According to studies, there are millions of white girls working at coffee shops across the country while struggling under the crushing student debt they acquired by irresponsibly obtaining college degrees that gave them no marketable job skills. Benevolent politicians have proposed transferring all the wealth from trade workers and minority business owners to help indebted white girls with their student loans so they can still afford their daily latte and cat food expenses.

I don't know, I know people who majored in semiotics who are now movie producers and lawyers and investment bankers. An excellent liberal arts degree can set you up for all sorts of different roles in life, some of them highly lucrative and highly fulfilling. Not everyone is cut out to be an electrician or a plumber, you know.

Sarcasm aside, we are not paying for it. Our kids are. Makes it even worse if you ask me, because at least we got to vote for the lesser of 2 evils. Kids are the only ones who don't really get a say in it.
