Hello. everyone.

I am happy to tell everyone we pass the K1 visa.

and I will fly US at Jan to marry.

But we have a problem have to figure out.

here is the situation we need to know....

My fiancée now is in nursing home because he got brain bleed one year ago.

her social security pay for nursing home now.

and she dont have other money in her bank account so nursing not charge more.(actually I dont know why. but that is they doing now.)

Her friend warning me if we marry...I will have to pay 3000/month for her nursing home payment.

Thats way too much I can offord....

I love her but about financial condition we still have to know how to do.

Does spouse have to pay for nursing home care?

thanks.

I assume they will review the charges based on your joint income.

You asked a similar question last year. I think it would be useful to ask your spouse, their social worker, and/or lawyer, to find out the effects getting married. In some situations, it's "better" to be single.

thanks for reply.

well last time we ask about because we thought is only talking about his social welfare benefits

so...sorry about ask similar question.

But last time I asked the answer is " social security benefits cannot just be "gone" "

So I think is still different...I know his social security still can pay for it. but after we marry ...will nursing home want me pay more?

I know his social security wont cover whole payment now and actually i dont know why she still can stay there for a year (somebody said the nursing home may want her move out but...no.)

thats why I think about will they do that after we marry?

I dont have any record and account in US

so...they basically I dont have money in US too.

Also I google for some information

some post said yes and some post said no.

that make me so confused.....

well but is good advise to talk with nursing home

I will try...

if someone have some situation  and can give me more advise that will be good.

thanks

when a SS receiptant enters nursing home

if under 90 days ,  medicare pays and he does not loose benefits

If over

. Medicaid pays for nursing home care for most Americans who require it. However, one must be financially eligible for Medicaid. Medicare does not pay for long term nursing home care.

Medicaid is determined by income and assets

NOTE

In brief, the federal government has written a law to ensure the healthy spouse does not go broke and is not left without a place to live when their spouse enters a nursing home. In Medicaid-speak, this law is referred to as Spousal Impoverishment Protection, Spousal Impoverishment Law, or Division of Assets. This law ensures the spouse that is not in a nursing home has enough funds to live by protecting a set amount of income and assets.

Assets are home,  car,  savings,  bonds,  investments

Can you protect assets from nursing home costs?

Families have been using a trust to protect assets from a nursing home. The Asset Protection Trust, an irrevocable trust also called a house trust can protect their home and savings from being consumed by the cost of nursing home care. It is different than a revocable living trust.

if anything happens to him to put him in nursing home permanently,  u will need to have a lawyer explain this all to u to protect yourself
