From what you said, I believe you are coming back into the United States after being abroad for 8 months. This will not be a problem as you are a green card holder or LPR. You don't want to make a habit of it, but you have good reasons obviously. You are allowed by law to stay outside of the US up to 1 year without needing a permit to return. Just make sure you come back as soon as possible. Don't try your luck and push it to the 365 day or 1 year limit. While legal it isn't advisable to push things to the limit with immigration. It also may effect how soon you can apply for naturalization. And when you come back, make sure you stay a while, minimum of 6 months I would say, longer the better. You just don't want USCIS to think you have abandoned your LPR status.

Nothing to worry about. I have heard they are being a little more lenient at POE recently due to people getting stuck outside the US due to covid-19. But still, I have not personally seen it, so it's all rumors right now. You are more than fine as long as you are under a year. And that's the benefit of being a green card holder, they can't just throw you out, or revoke your status ( CBP can't anyway). They can try and make you voluntarily sign a form giving up your status, if they do obviously don't sign it and request a hearing before an immigration judge ( the only person who can really revoke your status).  But this is in extreme situations, and you are no where near this point yet. Just come back and I can just about guarantee you will have no issues. In my experience with CBP they are only doing their job and while they may have inconvenienced me a few times, they have never treated me or my LPR spouse with anything but respect. It's the old adage, treat people how you want to be treated, and 99 percent of the time things will go well.
