Hello! First of all, kudos to everyone going through the immigration process. It is teeth grinding and requires so much patience. It is a test I hope I pass.

I became documentarily qualified on October 2. I am also in the FB1 category. Mom filed for me. Interested in getting updates from applicants like me in Jamaica.

Breakdown of my journey:

Priority Date March 2013

USCIS Approved December 2019

NVC Received my case February 2020

DQ October 2, 2020 (COVID caused this)

Now I'm waiting to see how much longer it will take for an interview. COVID is a real pain in my rear end. UGH

Why would it take that long? That's ridiculous. I really don't anticipate it going past May of next year to get an interview. My category typically takes 7-8 years. I'm right there.

You’re forgetting COVID-19 is still in the mix. I hope it goes faster for you and everyone and they can join their family members in the states.

I have that in mind. I have been following other threads. Nothing has gone over 5 months wait so far in my country, Jamaica. I'll add another 2 months to that. Brings me right about to 8 years. The interview is literally all that is left. I'm going to try and be positive about it.

Remember there is likely to be a backlog. I have no idea how busy the Jamaica embassy usually is but there was the first lot of backlogs caused from the embassy closures due to COVID, and then a second lot due to the bans on most family based visas including F1. So there may be a lot of people in line in front of you when these interviews start up again.
