Hi, I wanna ask about joint sponsor. I saw a post from someone that her fiance attended the interview for their K1, and then the CO didn't accepted their joint sponsor and said that he have to meet the income requirement by himself even their joint sponsor was 10 times more than needed and another person commented there that her lawyer said that by Last November K1 are no longer allowed using joint sponsor.

Is it true?  :)

There is, very likely, more to that story.  Acceptance of joint sponsors is based strictly on individual consulate and consulate officer decisions.  I have seen no policy change indicating what the attorney said.

If  you google a question like "do embassies have to accept a joint sponsor for a K1?"

you will see several posts (without opening a site) that says pretty much the same

Please note that some U.S. Embassies may not accept joint sponsors for the K-1 fiance visa (e.g. U.S. Embassy, Manila Philippines) whereas, most U.S. Embassies do accept joint sponsors for the CR-1 spousal visas. ... The U.S. citizen petitioner must fill out a USCIS Form I-134, Affidavit of Support.Mar 18, 2019

That statement is from rapid visa

Basically it is hard for one person to live on the $17,240 poverty guideline amount listed for a K1

I believe that a CO will look at other items also when making a decision like education of the USC in case the person is just starting out and can possibly have a much better income in the future

are the 2 of them of child bearing age and will start a family soon making it even harder to live on  income of the petitioner

and the CO could believe the joint sponsor will not actually contribute to the support of the immigrant.

I actually been searched about this since even I started my K1 process, but because of there was a post today said the CO didn't accepted their joint sponsor, that's why I asked this question.

BTW thanks for the response, I might will just email my embassy once I received NOA2.☺

As others have mentioned, acceptance of a co-sponsor for a K-1 depends on the embassy. Some accept it, some don’t. Some even allow the applicant to self-sponsor.

However, the embassy’s rejection for your friend should provide her with some food for thought. The I-134 is based on 100% of the federal poverty level. So the petitioner is living below the poverty level for his household size and is now wanting to add another adult, who cannot work for many months and who will need healthcare, plus there is the cost of AOS to consider. The embassy is right to be concerned about this - your friend should be concerned too. For AOS the petitioner has to be at 125% of the federal poverty level. So that’s another struggle they face. I think your friend and her fiancé are seriously underestimating the financial impact that a K-1 brings. Like many others, they focus only on “scraping through” the interview whilst completely oblivious to what the next year is going to be like, living on such limited means during a period of high unemployment.
