Trump is reportedly 'very aware' he lost the election but is putting up a fight as 'theater'

President Trump is reportedly challenging the 2020 election results primarily just as "theater," as he puts on a "performance" for his supporters despite knowing he will not begin a second term in January.

Trump has still yet to concede the election to President-elect Joe Biden, and by Thursday morning, he was continuing to fire off baseless allegations of widespread voter fraud. But NBC News' Peter Alexander reports, citing a White House aide, that Trump is "very aware there is not a path to victory" for him and is putting up legal challenges as a kind of "theater" for his supporters, believing that they "deserve a fight."

   I'm not sure if the article is completely accurate, but it's a better explanation than the expectation of legal challenges changing anything.

A lot of what is going on right now with Trump, and those around him, is about 2024.

  It doesn't necessarily have to be Trump running, and I think most people hope it isn't, but it may just be about keeping the narrative going. If people are still talking about a stolen 2020 election in 2024, and if Republicans get similar voter turnout as 2020, it could be a landslide for the GOP candidate. The 2024 senate races are also very favorable for Republicans.

his kids will be in prison then too, and if we recover from this, and we pick up a few seats in 2022, there is no way whoever the republicans trot out would be nearly as popular as trump.

he is a master at selling. none of the other "contenders" is even in the same league because they dont think like he does, and wont go as far out on the limb as he does.

  I think Trumps personal goals are more about what he can parlay out of it, especially financially. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole 4 years ends up as another reality show. The Apprentice - Washington edition. Now with even more "you're fired!"

 

  If DT runs in 2024, it could end up being similar to 2020. He still a polarizing figure. He would still turn off a lot of moderate/independent voters and even some Republicans.  If he doesn't run but finds a way to remain relevant and keep his supporters engaged, with a better candidate getting the GOP nomination and DT supporting them, it could be a difficult election for Democrats.
