Got to be a joke

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

You just proved my point.  You totally looked past what the Manila Embassy did to us yesterday to live in the past.  Don't want to argue, but right now I don't want to hear war stories.

PWB are you still in Manila? I’m back on the 29th, will do the quarantine and will be in Makati area working.  I can PM you if your around.

The United States is now a country obsessed with the worship of its own ignorance.  Americans are proud of not knowing things.  They have reached a point where ignorance, is an actual virtue.  To reject the advice of experts is to assert autonomy, a way for Americans to insulate their increasingly fragile egos from ever being told they're wrong about anything.  It is a new Declaration of Independence: no longer do we hold these truths to be self-evident, we hold all truths to be self-evident, even the ones that arent true.  All things are knowable and every opinion on any subject is as good as any other.  The fundamental knowledge of the average American is now so low that it has crashed through the floor of "uninformed", passed "misinformed", on the way down, and now plummeting to "aggressively wrong."

No, it didn't. It got alittle longer in 2017 because everybody started filing petitions to get right with immigration.

And 2017 was not under Trump. 2017 must have been under Biden. Lmao!

Just another random guy from the internet with an opinion, although usually backed by data!

Does anyone else get the feeling that Trump secretly stopped all immigration until the election was over? These processing times and quite frankly the embassies blatant disregard for people’s time just doesn’t add up to me. People are working at these embassies but are literally doing nothing. I don’t know...just seems like something he would do. Maybe I’m reaching, but we all know how he feels about immigration.

I agree with you. He came in in 2016 being anti-immigration, and he has used covid as an excuse to halt it is as much as possible. That is why there is a lawsuit now from K-1s against Pompeo.

Now I'm not trying to say that you don't look at the news, or that you don't have social media, or that you don't listen to the radio or that you maybe have a filter set on your PC. However, there's been a bit of a thing going on this year....I mean granted only a little world wide pandemic right but.

And quite frankly, a K1 isn't something that saves someone's life, a K1 isn't a claim for asylum or any specific petition for safe shelter in another country, so why would any president/politician particularly take time out of their day to care about someone else's wants? Now I'm not defending Trump - the guy's not done much for immigration in my limited knowledge. But c'mon, COVID

The K1 is not a time sensitive item (when relating to the danger of life) so it's a personal decision. And I was a K1 (Beneficiary), during trump, pre-covid, my timeline was respectful in all fairness (6/7 months give or take and we made some appointments purposefully delayed), during the K1 did I want it faster? Oh 100%! If it took 2 weeks, I'd have wanted it in 1. That's life, we make these decisions to be with the one we love, that doesn't mean the world has to change to get them to us, we have to ensure we're together and suck the rest up and deal with it.

And I'm sorry (not sorry) if this sounds harsh, but honestly I feel like if the McDonalds (<enter local fast food restaurant>) down my street ran out of chicken nuggets (<enter favourite food>), people would be rioting claiming Trump made it happen....read up first, research and understand. Then start finding a target to point at. If you're going to point and look for a hatred point during a K1 process, sorry to say but it's not going to be a pleasant 6-18 Months for you.

I know how hard it is to have to wait to be with your partner, but I don’t think this is abnormal given the circumstances. It took us 90 days from NOA1 to NOA2 in mid 2019, I remember we were one of the cases that got really lucky to have it be that fast then. You’re 4 months in, the pandemic has slowed a lot of things dramatically, if I were you right now as hard as it is, I wouldn’t worry yet. As long as your case is solid and correct, good things will happen before you know it.

Do you realize that a 2nd and a 3rd wave of the panademic is hitting overseas just as much if not worse then here in the US?

Cities are shutting down again, on lock down.    Really think the staff at the embassies are going to risk lock down to process visas?   They are human also, and have families to take care of and protect.

If you actually look at the stats for completed K1 visas from say 2014 to 2018 (before and after Trump) , you'll see process may have slowed down due to # of applications skyrocketing and the completed # has gone up

Completion rates for all visa types can be found in the US stat sites and the following are for K1

You should always see a slow down in processing when applications go up in number and the number of employees stays the same

2014-- 523,700

2015--489,500 (worst year ever  and before Trump)

2016--577,000

2017--600,500

2108--577,200

https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/reports/2018_USCIS_Statistical_Annual_Report_Final_-_OPQ_5.28.19_EXA.pdf

I can't find the site now i use to refrence but before 2018 the number of overall appications to USCIS was just over 6 milliion and has gone up now to over 9 million (and yes they said fewer this year but still well over the 9 million mark)

All lives matter, not only "staff at embassies". We all (offices) are at work, why can't they go to work and conduct interviews. They have always had a glass shield even before covid.

I work in  government office, the ones here have masks, washing hands constantly, and slathering on hand sanitizer,  and yet terrified to catch it, the others whom are out are taking care of family, or is in quarantine and lost 3 to the virus.

Yes All Lives matter, I did not imply only embassy staff lives matter, stop being so petty.

They can only do so much, your barley in the process, it takes time.  This process does not happen overnight.

Not to mention the implications of an election year..

seems to me everything gets slowed down while citizenships applications get focused on, attempt to pick up votes maybe... but I get that feeling especially when Dems are in power and the P seat is up for grabs

It is not about being petty, just as you described, operations are going on with precautions in other places.

Sorry about the loss of your colleagues.
