Indoor gatherings with people outside your household will be prohibited unless participants have quarantined for at least a week and tested negative.

A lot of deaths sadly this week including younger people, and Friday + Saturday we had a simply enormous total of infections. I fully expect that the governor will be shutting us down soon. He hedges his language constantly to that point. Most counties are reducing customers down to 25%, but I can see him shutting off indoor dining again. Local schools have decided to go back to online only learning, especially now that state employees are ordered to telework again. Supplies are flying off the shelves and being rationed.

The county here is talking about curfews for businesses that are non-essential. I'm not sure how this would work, or what it entails. 

 

Our little city just saw a massive spike in positive cases, and we're now reconsidering our Thanksgiving plans to be with my parents. Since my sister and her boyfriend see pretty much no one right now, and they live near to my parents, we think maybe they should go we will give it a pass this year. Very sad, and it will mean rejigging cooking/baking plans, but it's worth it to be able to do it properly next year. Sacrifices can be big or small, but they all add up.

• Two more people who attended an Election Night party at the White House have been diagnosed with the coronavirus, bringing the current tally of Covid-19 cases from the event to at least five.
• The newly reported cases from the party were of Brian Jack, the White House political director, and of Healy Baumgardner, a former White House aide who now works in private equity.
• Baumgardner attended the Nov. 3 event in the East Room at the White House as a guest of President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani.
• The other three positive cases are White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson, and David Bossie, who briefly directed Trump’s ongoing effort to challenge election results in the race against President-elect Joe Biden.

Moderna announces initial Phase 3 data showing its COVID-19 vaccine is up to 94.5% effective

 

Moderna also announced promising data Monday about how the vaccine can be shipped and stored. According to the company, the vaccine can safely be stored for up to six months in a normal freezer, and up to 30 days in a normal refrigerator.

"I think a big difference between our vaccine and the Pfizer vaccine ... is that our vaccine appears to be able to be distributed in much more traditional infrastructure," Hoge said.

Pfizer's vaccine must be kept at around -94 degrees Fahrenheit -- far colder than a typical freezer can accommodate. Because of these temperature requirements, the company will ship vaccine doses in special temperature-controlled thermal boxes packed with dry ice.

With the new data published this week, Moderna could be the second company to seek authorization in the United States, after Pfizer.

From a historical perspective, our response to covid 19 has been rather puzzling. We've had past flu outbreaks in the 50s and 60s that when you adjust for the size of the population that were as bad or worse than coronavirus and there were no lockdowns with accompanying mass unemployment, Davos billionaires acting like Bond villains promising a reset for society,  or trillions of dollars in freshly printed money being handed to cronies and special interest groups across all the major nations. The fact that we're getting a seasonal spike seems to confirm this is something you can use off the shelf vitamin D and C supplements to combat, along with the number of hospitalizations that align with Vitamin D deficiency, yet we've got no official government suggestion to take such basic supplements. The average age of a fatality is around 80 years old, and actually exceeds the life expectancy most places., and when it violates this trend it's usually because there's something else going wrong with the person complicating things generally. 

 

Of course, I'm just a bitter 30 something with a history degree waiting for my fiancée's visa to get stamped that has undoubtedly been extended by the lockdowns. The facts stand and I think it puts to question the motivation those pulling the levers in government.
