Today is exactly 2 months after my second injection.  Time to check out the 95% effectiveness of my Pfizer vaccine.  We have friends from Russia visiting us for three weeks so decided to make the LONG trip from SW FL up to NOLA.  Arrived early this evening and walked 1 1/2 blocks to Bourbon street.  Quite a large crowd especially considering it's a Thursday night.  Masks?  Well, looks like life is returning back to normal as probably less than 5% on Bourbon street are wearing them.

It pains me to say this, but Bourbon street is more active and wild than Duval street in Key West.  Just to be sure, we will be in the Keys next weekend for a true comparison.

I am feeling almost completely better now. Amazing how I could go from wanting death's sweet kiss to near complete recovery in 36 hours.

I want to go be in the world again and feel safe to be there, safe to others too. So I'll do it all over again and gladly.

I have had both vaccines and move about know without concern. I dont understand why the CDC recommends that a group of people that have all been vaccinated needs to wear masks. I think masks have become more of a political statement than anything

I think I know human nature. Frankly I don't trust most people. If that means I wear a mask around people who I don't know (and therefore don't trust) or people I do know but don't trust (I have an aunt and several cousins that fall into this category), so be it. People suck. Just because I did what is necessary to protect myself and the people around me doesn't mean others have. Until this is really under control, I'll wear a mask in places where there's a higher risk of transmission -- i.e., indoors around the general public, or where social distancing isn't possible.

I don't see the point in gambling with my health or the health of others to ... what? Make some sort of political point that I am An Individual and I Know My Rights? I know that already. What I am is a human being that cares for my health, the health of my loved ones, and the health of the greater community. Masks suck but getting COVID or giving it to someone else is worse.

I guess my question is this, if you have been fully vaccinated and others refuse to do it, then that's on them. The mask is to protect others from what I understand, if they refuse to get vaccinated, wear a mask or practice social distancing that's on them. we cant wear masks forever.

I don't disagree that this isn't forever. But I believe that right now, in many places, the risk is too high. I care about my community, and don't want to put it at risk. A person who refuses to wear a mask and gets COVID doesn't operate in a vacuum -- they encounter others, too. They can come home and infect their kids, or their spouse, or someone at work. I worry about those people, who are blameless.

We moved into the yellow tier this week and I for one am looking forward to a Hot No-COVID Summer of eating al fresco, going to the beach, going on roadtrips and hikes and allllll the stuffs. Life is getting back to normal here in this county. Which of course means traffic. But I can live with traffic if that means that soon we're going to have this under control.

Most likely, it's because they understand that people can spread viruses even if they are immune.
