The mass vaccination sites aren't really actively checking people for if they feel unwell. At least nothing beyond, "hey you good?" they aren't checking heart rates or BP before letting anyone go because they don't have time. It relies on the person to know if they feel unwell or not. Husband later told me his chest felt heavy while waiting but thought he was just having anxiety so he didn't say anything. His problem is still persisting and I couldn't get an appointment until next week, so I've been checking him every day. I finally got my own vaccine appointment coming up for Pfizer as well. I have had a history of high BP and heart rate issues for which I take medication for... hope that it will not make things worse.

Yeah, I think Neonred made the right call on not doing this. We were hearing a rapid response called to the vaccination center about once a week, which means someone needs medical intervention.

I haven't noticed any resting heart rate issues, but I have noticed my heart rate is getting way higher than normal doing hills when I'm out biking. It's been 3 months now since I had the second vaccine so I don't necessarily know that it's related. Might just be too many ice cream sandwiches. I'm really hoping we don't find out down the road that these vaccines could cause more significant issues than they first anticipated. My concern always was that since many of the Covid issues are cause by the immune response to the virus, then theoretically, the vaccine could cause some of those same issues, although probably not to the same extent. It's a legitimate concern since we don't even fully understand all of the long term effects yet.

All that said, I'd still get the vaccine, understanding the potential risks. It's still better than contracting the virus.

I booked our vaccinations as our group opens on the 15th. I was so excited that I'd managed to nab us back to back jabs pretty much immediately and that we'd be getting them that day. Errrr I managed to book us in for next Wednesday the 21st instead. Whoops. I don't really feel like spending more time trying to save six days so the 21st it will stay.

And yes, it was a complete and utter derp. :D

J&J vaccine paused in the US due to rare blood clots with thrombocytopenia.

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/13/us/politics/johnson-johnson-vaccine-blood-clots-fda-cdc.html

Well I'm no doctor, but kinda scratching my head here. Seems to me that there is a 1 in 1,000,000 chance? Yet birth control women take every day has a 1 in 1,000 chance. And I believe this same risk with catching COVID and leading to these blood clots are also very high. In this current case all were women of childbearing age. Were they also taking birth control I wonder? Or is it entirely related to adenoviruses?

Moderna and Pfizer are not a problem for this apparently.

There was some papers that looked into this issue, involving AstraZenica. One study found patients had antibodies to platelet factor IV, and this caused the unusual reaction, which can be seen in those treated with a blood thinner. https://www.statnews.com/2021/04/13/researchers-search-for-answers-in-puzzle-of-blood-clots-and-covid-vaccines-and-see-some-clues/

A relative of one of my husband's colleagues suffered a heart attack shortly after taking the J&J vaccine within the past couple of days. Doctors are investigating if there is some sort of link with the vaccine. I'm not sure of the sex of the relative -- nobody wanted to press when it was brought up in the morning meeting apparently (and understandably).

Excellent point and post, Y ma'am.

I've already read posts predicting that this pause in administering the J&J, temporary though it might be, will severely damage the inoculation drive and increase "vaccination hesitancy."  Too tired tonight to research them, but possibly on thefederalist.com or perhaps townhall.com.

Technically they are only approved for emergency use, so none of them have full FDA approval.  As to the J&J vaccine, I don't think the FDA rescinded the EUA.  I believe the CDC simply recommended a pause in use of that vaccine.

the right answer is "none of them"

So we can verify, no, the vaccines have not been fully licensed yet. However they have been authorized for emergency use. Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson plan to apply for a BLA in 2021.

How common is thrombocytopenia?

It’s unknown how many people have thrombocytopenia. Many people have mild symptoms. They might not even know they have the condition. The autoimmune form of thrombocytopenia, immune thrombocytopenic purpura or ITP, affects approximately three to four out of every 100,000 adults and children.

https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/14430-thrombocytopenia

The math seems fairly obvious.
