This is coming from the Daily Fail, so I'm not sure as to it's actual accuracy, but it's saying that two people have been discovered to be infected by two distinct strains of COVID at the same time. The article does go on to state that it is theoretically possible, but that it also could be contaminated samples. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9210695/Brazil-patients-test-positive-TWO-coronavirus-variants-time.html

Two articles about Long Covid. These are rising cases of individuals that initially recovered after little to mild symptoms and have found their body completely deteriorating. Some have MS-like syndrome, problems with organs, immune issues, brain problems, psychosis, chronic fatigue and pain, fevers, hair loss, and much more.  https://www.providencejournal.com/story/news/coronavirus/2021/01/30/many-recovery-covid-start-long-term-complications/4265223001/

A cardiologist friend of mine referred me to the clinical trial for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine,  I'm scheduled to take it on the 17th of this month. It's a 2 shot vaccine, not the single shot, 70 days apart.

Good they had some left over.

It's not uncommon once you have genetically distinct strains. In years where there are several strains in curculation, we see people with two different strains of flu virus fairly regularly, and occasionally even 3. It's also pretty common if you do a respiratory and someon has flu that they have other respiratory viruses too. The nature of getting sick with these is that once you get one of the more severe viruses, you are more succeptible to getting others.

Another good reason to stay home when we are sick I guess. I would guess worse than getting 2 at the same time would probably be getting one right after the other.

The bad thing about a trial is, you have a 50% chance of receiving a placebo, and they will only tell you after they give you the shot, Regardless, I still get paid $1500 :D

Well I am going to agree with you on this they are the Daily Fail. I only go to see what they have because they tend to be a news aggregate even though they screw the story up pretty bad.

Just some advice if going to Canada or now even the US, take the right test.  The interesting thing in this one is that the authorities would not disclose any information to the spouse about where the wife was being taken.  Sounds like it could be a recipe for someone wanting to abduct someone.

Edmonton woman takes wrong COVID test, detained for two nights following international flight

Bridge City News spoke with Mathis Saturday morning and he told us Nicole had been released from quarantine and was on her way home to Edmonton.

He explained that when she landed in Calgary Thursday night she was told she had the wrong test and would have to quarantine. Public health officials administered the proper PCR COVID test on Nicole at the airport, and she was escorted to an undisclosed quarantine location until receiving a negative test result from the PCR test.

“She actually got her negative test result back last night (Jan 29),” says Mathis, “but they told her she wasn’t allowed to leave until a public health nurse came and checked her out this morning.”

He says he received a call from his wife in distress Thursday night, saying she wasn’t allowed to leave the airport and that members of Public Health Agency Canada and Calgary Police Service were there to escort her to a quarantine location.

“She was told if she resisted she would be arrested,” says Mathis.

He asked his wife to pass the phone to the authorities to ask what would happen if she just left, “they reiterated what she had said to me,” (that she would be arrested).  He says they would not disclose to him the location of her quarantine and would not share their names with him.

Anywhere that requires a test is going to require a molecular test, and sometimes it's very specific. When we looked at planning a Hawaii vacation last month , they wanted a nucleic acid amplification test. This is different from the standard PCR test that many countries require.

Like everything else, the onus is on the traveler to check. My feeling is the doctor should have known this, but doctors miss a lot too. If I ever have a specific question about an uncommon test for my doctor, I often end up explaining more than I get answered. I feel like they went with the antigen test because it was faster.

I don't disagree, but I am troubled as to how the Canadian government treated this women as to information shared with her or her spouse.  What if she had tested positive with the proper test, would she be in seclusion with no information shared with the family?

Not sure what the standard is or why they don't share the location, but following the information on the government website, it looks like the airline should also have actually denied boarding. Quarantine is a consequence of those 2 prior mistakes and it's also putting border security in a position they shouldn't be dealing with. I don't think US detention would be a better experience.

Can a country keep a citizen from re-entering?  Worst case scenario, the airline does not allow her to board, so she rents a car and heads North on I35, can they keep a Canadian citizen from entering at a land crossing?  Overall, I would expect the same treatment by the government.
