We got several.people positive at work. I got tested today. The nasal think was not uncomfortable.  Test took 20 mins top.

Negative.  It is my understanding it can take up to 6 days or so after it enters your body to be positive

We stopped testing at work relative to exposure and started testing only if symptoms developed. I think they were getting some negatives from testing too early and people then forget the second part (monitor symptoms) is also important. I think mostly they just got tired of paying people to stay home and wait for negative results.

So far I've worked with 2 people who tested positive a couple of days after I worked closely with them and haven't had it myself (as far as I know).  The weird thing is even though I work in a hospital, almost all the positive co workers I have had got it from somewhere else, either at home at home or from travel. The more that time goes on, the more I am convinced that the masks, distancing and monitoring symptoms and staying home is actually working. Our sick time use is way down relative to past years and we are almost at January. Knock on wood though.

Not that I am aware of. I still have spells where I dont do.much. Not sure how a nasal swab would affect that.

Happy to say my aunt is better. :) She is now COVID negative and feeling fine. She said her only major symptom was crippling back pain, like bent over it's so bad back pain. Even now she can't wear a bra because it's too painful to have anything that close to her skin -- it feels like a second degree burn is how she described it.

She is having Christmas dinner tomorrow with my awful cousin and her husband who gave her COVID in the first place. 😕 At least they all have antibodies for the moment (they have been told) so they can't give it to each other. I know, not my kid, she loves my cousin, blah blah, but I am still furious about this, even if everyone lived. My aunt suffered, quite a lot, so bad she ended up briefly at the hospital.

Thinking Xmas with no family isn't so bad after all.......

We have a staff of 3600. Everyone was required to have the vaccine prior to a scheduled day off to prevent a logistical nightmare. The first round was relatively trivial and very few people had to miss any additional time. Personally, I am glad I had the next day off, and I did have minor side effects for a few days. I am actually not looking forward to the second dose now, as I've heard the side effects tend to be worse with that one.

Was your Pfizer or Moderna? We are getting Moderna. A lot of us work Monday through Friday but I could see them working something out for nursing staff to get theirs before a day off.

Yes, we discussed this late last night (my time). He's thinking about extending his trip by a couple of days so he can make sure he can get a test/results back. He'll be back in London the night of the 30th, and his flight is on the 1st in the afternoon (and he needs to budget in extra time to do check in because he's flying back as the spouse of a USC, and all the advice on here is "prepare for it to take time at the airport for your docs to be reviewed). The ticket's flexible, so we'll see. The place he had his test on the way in does house calls (!) in London, might do that. Just glad that there's no ban into the US.

I agree 100% You are definitely not a mathematician

A mathematician, a biologist, and a physicist are sitting in a street café, watching people going into and coming out of the house on the other side of the street.  First, they see two people going into the house.

Time passes.  After a while, they notice three people coming out of the house.

The physicist:  "The measurement wasn't accurate."

          The biologist:  "They have reproduced."

The mathematician:  "If now exactly one person enters the house, then it will be empty again."

5 people at wife's job tested positive in the past week, 4 employees and 1 resident. she is negative still so far and avoiding everyone else as much as she can. they still havent said when they might get the vaccines, hopefully soon. she refuses to eat lunch indoors with anyone else. or to even hang out with them, pretty much avoids anyone as much as possible because some people arent very responsible in following protocols.
