We are setting up vaccination schedules ATM. The other issue we noted is the vaccine not only has to be stored at -70 degrees Celsius, but it also deteriorates fairly rapidly once it's thawed. Seems like there could be issues with wait times and/or the possibility that people get vaccinated with a dud if it has been sitting around too long.

Also the amount of information they are taking and the amount of places they are reporting the data to when we get the vaccine are not going to help relax anyone who leans toward vaccine conspiracy theories. I have never seen so much paperwork over a vaccine.

How long before we start hearing stories of fake vaccines being distributed.

I would definitely avoid going anywhere to get the vaccine that is not reputable. There have already been scam warnings here and in other countries.

I completely agree, but you know they will be out there, and some people fall for scams.  Personally, I am hoping for the Moderna, or AZ, or even the J&J one, but who knows with me, I am certainly not going to be on the list early.

Btw, for the healthcare workers, are they planning on staggering the jabs so not everyone is out at the same time with the side effects?  I understand the second jab can be pretty eventful.

Once they ship the vaccine, we need to schedule appointments the same way we would do it if we were making a doctor appointment. That's to make the reporting requirement easier, but also makes it random as to who gets it on a given day. AFAIK, if we run a fever after getting the vaccine, we still have to stay home from work. I'm not sure if we would still need to get the PCR test done. A negative PCR test (or quarantine) is normally is a requirement to return to work after a fever.

I'm going to schedule mine before a day off if possible. Several people, especially younger people, are not sure if they even want to get it on the first round or not. At this point they know how much vaccine they expect to get in the first shipment, but they don't know when the next doses will be shipped.

https://apnews.com/article/uk-allergic-reaction-pfizer-vaccine-64ddccd70c38a39f880da27941db3540

Quote

LONDON (AP) — British regulators warned Wednesday that people who have a history of serious allergic reactions shouldn’t receive the new Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine as they investigate two adverse reactions that occurred on the first day of the country’s mass vaccination program.

The U.K.’s Medical and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency is looking into whether the reactions were linked to the vaccine. The two people affected were staff members with the National Health Service who had a history of allergies, and both are recovering. Authorities have not specified what their reactions were.

In the meantime, the regulator has issued the warning for anyone who has had a significant allergic reaction to a vaccine, medicine or food. That includes anyone who has been told to carry an adrenaline shot or others who have had potentially fatal allergic reactions.

Umm.. I guess that probably means I need to sit this vaccine out.

New Zealand has had 25 covid deaths. They visit family, friends, eat out, shop and go to work.  You need to quarantine for two weeks when coming into the country. I had to do this when going to Canada on my own in October, you come into the United States and they don't even ask you if you have symptoms.

Here is how one "victim" described the horrific conditions in New Zealand camps:

"I arrived into New Zealand about a month ago and they aren't exactly quarantine camps. They put us up in five star hotels with all food and drinks paid for. The Fillet steak and roast beef meals being my favourites, although having a full cooked breakfast every day was also very nice. I almost chose not to take the test just so I could stay longer," one person wrote.

"I'm now travelling around this stunning country where there are no protests, gun violence or hatred. No masks to wear, no temperature checks and no Covid as it all gets stopped at the border. God bless New Zealand and In the words of William Wallace ... FREEDOM!!!!!"

Thanks Yuna, the rest of the article is awesome. It is funny to see the response from a country that has been so successful with their approach respond to Americans who choose to judge how they approach quarantine when we cannot even put a mask on.

IIRC, the USA was averaging 1/3 of all the new positive cases in the world a short time ago. Probably higher now. There's no reason for New Zealand (or any other country in the world) to care what someone here in the USA thinks about their protocols.
