anecdotally, this is also true.

more people wearing masks, but they are also crowding together more like at stores or even outside walking around, from my observations

we did take a chance and walked around a mall on black friday because my wife had never seen it decorated for christmas, we wanted to get out of the house and go for a walk somewhere, and she wanted to take pictures. although we tried our best to stay away from other people, we noticed that others were not as considerate, or not even trying.

I have learned to overcome a lifetime of not being very good about making myself inconvenient and speaking up when I see something wrong. It's uncomfortable to be that person who makes a fuss when it is needed. But I now tell people to step away if they're too close and give me some room. I'm always nice about it, and people are usually surprised for a second, and then have no problem about making space. I think it's a very hard habit to break, especially for some people who have cultural norms where people stand more closely. I grew up around a lot of Armenian-Americans, and personal space is measured very differently in their community than in my Anglo community. But if you are polite about it around here, everyone seems to get it.

Local beloved B'more City math teacher Antwion Ball passed away from COVID19 in the hotel room he was quarantining in Thanksgiving week. He had gone to the hospital multiple times in an attempt to seek treatment, but was turned away for not being ''bad enough". His family are trying to raise money for his funeral via gofundme. I often think about so many of these cases... the people who ended up dying after being refused treatment, often because the hospitals are overflowing now.

Antwion “Busta” Ball, 43, was the kind of teacher who altered the course of his students' lives. “He told Black boys you can be somebody,” his sister, Shavone Ball, told The Baltimore Sun. “He told them, once you have an education, it can’t be taken away.” During a candlelight vigil for the educator Thursday, many of his students couldn't speak "it was so painful," said Bettye Blaize, an administrator Ball worked with for Cambio Group educational consultants.

Actions do have consequences:

Quote

A Dallas family physician has been suspended by the Oregon Medical Board after publically stating he and his staff are not wearing masks in his clinic during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Steven LaTulippe, owner of South View Medical Arts, also compared the SARS-CoV-2 virus to a "common cold virus," and challenged Gov. Kate Brown's authority in her efforts to slow the spread of the disease.

"I want to expose what I call 'corona-mania,' " LaTulippe said while addressing a crowd at the Oregon State Capitol during the Nov. 7 "Stop the Steal" rally.

"I hate to tell you this — it might scare you, but I and my staff, none of us — once — wore a mask in my clinic," he told the crowd.

‘Living in La-La-land’: Eatery owner blasts dining ‘double standard’

Marsden pointed to California Gov. Gavin Newsom dining maskless and indoors with lobbyists at the tony French Laundry restaurant — noting the money spent on the outing would have been a big help to a struggling small business like hers.

She also called out LA County supervisor Sheila Kuehl for eating outdoors at a Santa Monica restaurant, hours after she voted to ban outdoor dining.

“Do you know what that did to every bar and restaurant owner in town? And how angry, and how upset…,” Marsden said.

Marsden was forced to close her restaurant, Pineapple Hill Saloon and Grill, including it’s outdoor dinning set up, over strict new restrictions imposed by Newsom.

She posted a video Thursday showing the near-identical — and legal — outdoor set up of a film catering site feeding the cast and crew of the NBC show “Good Girls.”

Good article from NYT today about Pfizer's vaccine. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/08/health/covid-vaccine-pfizer.html

Some points to remember though:

1) Requiring two doses, the first can give up to 52% protection.

2) However the first dose can take up to 10 days to be effective. Little side effects noted for the first dosage.

3) Side effects do seem to hit with a bang on the second dose (giving 95% protection) such as fever, fatigue, injection site reaction, flu symptoms.

4) Doctors need to be aware to make patients aware that these side effects are not COVID19 itself.

5) Only a few severe reactions of Bells Palsy. I wish there was more data to know about this..

6)Still no data on how long they think this vaccine will provide protection for.

7) A nurse that volunteered believes she received the real vaccine and her experience sounded mighty unpleasant for a few days. A couple hour spike of 104F fever seems nothing to sniff at. That being said any reaction seemed to resolve within 48hrs. https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamainternalmedicine/fullarticle/2773790

8 ) Data still seemed to be positive for persons in all age groups and weight.

9) There were some deaths. I'd like more info on this.. That being said only two seemed to be related. The rest were unrelated causes.

I had read about this and it is good news.  The one question I have yet to see answered is how long the vaccine effectiveness lasts?  I have read stories regarding the Moderna vaccine that it may be around 3 months.  I am not sure what that will mean overall.

We are setting up vaccination schedules ATM. The other issue we noted is the vaccine not only has to be stored at -70 degrees Celsius, but it also deteriorates fairly rapidly once it's thawed. Seems like there could be issues with wait times and/or the possibility that people get vaccinated with a dud if it has been sitting around too long.

Also the amount of information they are taking and the amount of places they are reporting the data to when we get the vaccine are not going to help relax anyone who leans toward vaccine conspiracy theories. I have never seen so much paperwork over a vaccine.
