The medical requirements are so antiquated, every doctor will tell you what they test for are from the 1940's, so probably not in the near future. The entire medical requirement thing is a joke.

 

The second point is: I have come into this country twice since this began, once by air and once by land. No one asks me "what countries did you visit? " " Are you experiencing any of the following symptoms...?" "Have been in contact with anyone with the coronavirus?" and no quarantine instructions. 

So based on their current controls at the frontier, they could care less.

   School districts here are starting to switch back to 100% virtual learning. The guidelines are to switch when more than 5% of students are out sick. Many school districts have exceeded or are rapidly approaching that target.

I really hope this isn't the case because my 7 year old has really enjoyed going back to school full time.

Al's 7 year old has been very happy to be back at school. She was miserable when they were sent home and her year wasn't one of the ones that was permitted back in the springtime. She was also very worried that her mother wasn't bright enough to give her a good education!  We told her that there are very few secrets that it's okay to keep from mummy, but that's one of them. I really have no idea where she gets these ideas, but she's hilarious.

I was watching the Delaware briefing yesterday - there are so far very few cases of kids infecting each other at least in a school setting - it was unclear if they were contracting it elsewhere. However it's the adults that seem to be spreading it throughout. Teachers/staff eating together, having parties and gatherings etc. And of course college setting is a completely different mess, where they are very busy spreading infection. In MD, however, whatever we seem to be doing isn't working as well, with kids and adults spreading. So I'm wondering if the relative risk of infection for kids may depend on methods of control used in each state's school system as well as any unique local factors. If one system is more successful than another at mitigating risks, we need to examine what is being done correctly.

My wife has been watching two eight year olds four days a week for during their online classes for the past two months.  Yesterday was her last day as the kids are going back to in person today.  I told her I would not be surprised if this changes in the near future.

  It's by state, so it depends what guidelines you have. They don't have a choice here once infections exceed 5%. I feel bad for you all with younger kids. I know it's tough. My youngest is 13, so they are all at the age where they are fine staying home and they like sleeping in. At that age, they are on discord and other social media talking to their friends all day anyway. So it's not as bad for them.

 

  Boulder county just announced they are staying shut till after the Christmas break.

We had 25 deaths in LA County alone yesterday from COVID.
