No shortages that I've seen anywhere, and in the past three days I have been to both my regular supermarket and a larger one that I'm not crazy about but they do stock stuff the smaller one I prefer doesn't occasionally. Plenty of everything, especially cleaning fluids. We are stocked up with everything we need so we're good to go when the inevitable real lockdown starts here. The one in place now really doesn't affect me -- restaurants closed 10pm-6am unless takeout or delivery or curbside; patio dining closing on Wednesday (I don't do this at all anyway); no non-essential retail 10pm-6am; non-essential travel between 10pm-6am discouraged. The last of these is really to stop the parties that are the source of spread in this county. If we could just evict all these IG influencers and TikTok stars who have pool parties in the Hills it would improve things. Not just them though -- it's all over the city, backyard parties and underground clubs, etc. Idiots.

If we get much higher over a 3 day period, we are going to actual 10pm-6am curfew with non-essential travel restricted. The step after that is stay at home again, like earlier in the year.

How much did you pay roughly? I have been thinking about doing that.

I have some bargaining room with my wife since she takes up all the closet space with shoes, so I might be able to swing the generator.

Around $10k including the switch all installed.  It will run the whole house 110, but is limited on the 220, it is 12kW.  I thought about going bigger, but that would have required a bigger gas meter, and I figure we can do without AC, or using the dryer or oven if the power is out.

Did that too. Exactly the evasive response I expect from mods on here. Don't address the concerns.

I wasn't prying. I am standing up for myself as an immigrant. Everyone is an immigrant in the US unless you're indigenous. Someone can be prejudice about me because they perceive I'm a certain nationality, but I can't challenge that? Understood. ECHO CHAMBER.

A couple of years ago we had a power outage for a week. I bought a 9k powerhorse from Northen tool. Seems like I paid around 800. Spent a couple of hundred more to have a cord run to my service panel.

When the power goes off I have to go outside and manually flip the switch to prevent back feed and plug in the feeder cord.

It runs my house and my garage apt except for AC/Heat. Also dont try to run dryer.

That's more in my price range. Those are the ones you can just run an extension cord from in a pinch?

You can. Mine has several 110 and I think 2 or 3 220s.

I had an electrician tie a cable into the breaker panel. Feeds the whole house

I was thinking to just buy the generator for now and use it in a pinch, and then have an electrician do the install down the road. I'm avoiding having people over for work unless I have to. My dad had a furnace repair guy over last month and he said the guy was coughing and sneezing the whole time and they were worried about Covid for a couple of weeks after that.

Place is rapidly turnin' into a veritable Third World country.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Even the ancestors of the “indigenous” folks migrated to the Americas at some point if you believe the theories.

Yes, we definitely had a hard time finding a smaller turkey about a week ago.  We finally found one in one of the smaller grocery stores.  My wife makes her own mushroom sauce which is delicious, so we use that for the GBC.
