Germany protesters clash with police amid government coronavirus restrictions

Critics say lockdown laws give the government too much power

 

German police fired water cannons Wednesday at demonstrators protesting coronavirus restrictions in Berlin’s government district, after crowds ignored calls to wear masks and keep their distance from one another in line with pandemic regulations.

 

As the cannons soaked protesters outside the landmark Brandenburg Gate, police in riot gear moved through the crowd carrying away some participants. Some demonstrators threw fireworks and flares in response as police helicopters hovered overhead.

 

The protests came as German lawmakers opened debate on a bill that will provide the legal underpinning for the government to issue social distancing rules, require masks in public and close stores and other venues to slow the spread of the virus. While such measures are supported by most people in Germany, a vocal minority has staged regular rallies around the country arguing that the restrictions are unconstitutional.

 

The measures are expected to pass both the lower and then upper house of parliament and be quickly signed by Germany’s president.

  Governor Polis  wants elementary schools in Colorado to stay with and/or transition back to in person learning, but middle schools and high schools use virtual options as much as possible. Most schools here are switching from in person to virtual, but good that they have recognized that in person learning for elementary school age is a better and probably safer option. I think we have discussed this here a few times, but the numbers elementary students that were being left home unattended is a bigger risk factor than Covid. 

 

  They also mentioned in the radio commentary that elementary students tend to have lower transmission rates, and perhaps actually do better observing social distancing and mask protocols than older kids.

I tend to agree.  The two children (both eight year olds) my wife watches literally just went back to in person schooling last week and now the district is sending them back home.  I don’t think they are having a big issue with transmission , and I don’t believe the governor is explicitly demanding schools go back to online, but I do not know what communications are happening behind the scenes.

Why isn't it? Someone can ask me why I'm an immigrant, but I'm not meant to ask someone that joined late last year and has no visible immigration journey why they are on here? All they do is hang out on the CEHST forum and spread misinformation. Why shouldn't I ask why? 

 

I have found the mod team inadequate in dealing with concerns.

I did that last year to Captain Ewok, and guess what? No response. There is a dangerous attitude on here where hatred is legitimized. I don't care if you ban me. I don't need this forum. But consider this - there are people that do. And those people are discriminated against on here. It's disgusting that immigrants are made to feel less than, undesirable, disregarded on a forum for immigrants. You're a mod Ban Hammer. T-B is a mod. It's a joke.

just because you do not know what their immigration journey is does not mean you need to pry into their private life.

Of course it depends on people actually getting the vaccine, as opposed to thinking there's no way Bill Gates and George Soros are going to fill their bodies with nanochips that will make their brains fry and want to vote for Democrats, no way.
