This makes a lot of sense.

The zero COVID delusion

The moral and patriotic imperatives of our current moment are different. (A 2020 version of that same poster might read, ‘When you ride TOGETHER, you ride with Death!’) But they offer the same comforting assurance: that together, if we just try hard enough and follow the rules, we can beat this thing.

Therein lies the problem.

We cannot beat this thing.

The notion that we could literally stop the spread of COVID by locking down and vaccinating it out of existence was always a fantasy. As National Geographic recently noted, ‘only two diseases in recorded history that affect humans or other animals have ever been eradicated’. (Only one of these viruses, smallpox, was a danger to human beings; the other is a bovine disease.) Every other virus, from ebola to influenza to the bubonic plague, still exists among us; we’ve just learned to live with them, and to control them as best we can through inoculation, preventive measures, and treatment for those who get sick.

Ahhh, how many times have I said this very thing to people in the past 18 months!!  Ever hear of HIV/AIDS?  You know, that pandemic that has killed several times more people than the flu or covid.  Yep, still among us.  Never shut down our country for it.

The common cold, a coronavirus (that is thankfully nowhere near as deadly as covid), has been around since... humans.  (Sidebar - There is no vaccine for the common cold.[3] The primary methods of prevention are hand washing; not touching the eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands; and staying away from sick people.[3] Some evidence supports the use of face masks.[9] There is also no cure, but the symptoms can be treated.[3] Zinc may reduce the duration and severity of symptoms if started shortly after the onset of symptoms.)

Influenza... well, I think we are all pretty familiar with that one too.

As long as there are humans, there will be diseases.  And as long as there are diseases, there will be NEW diseases, some more lethal, some more annoying.  Heart disease and cancer killed 387% more people in 2020 than covid did.  And has done so for decades upon decades.  Did we shut down our economy?  Force people to take experimental meds?  Cause them to lose the businesses that took years to build?

Except for the politicalization of covid and the fact that too many left earth too soon, it's really just another bug we will learn to live with.

"and to control them as best we can through inoculation, preventive measures, and treatment for those who get sick"

So I agree with you here: take the vaccine unless you have health or moral objections, wear masks indoors and when around the vulnerable wash your hands and keep your distance where prudent.

Far from it -- rather, bananas are for simians who are at the zenith of evolution.

Fake vaccination card market flourishing

JAZZ SHAW Aug 08, 2021 3:31 PM ET

The vaccination mandates are starting to roll out at all levels now, including one for all federal workers.  State and municipal governments are following suit, as are some private employers.  Simply saying that you've been vaccinated isn't enough, however.  You have to have some form of proof.  In the United States [...]

The US government bureaucracy seems to be fixated on the vaccine, and not so much on treatments.  I would think with the overwhelming majority of the vulnerable (those over 60) vaccinated, maybe we should not dismiss the treatments Drs. all over the world are using.  I know, that does not fit the fearmongering narrative, not really sure why people fear freedom so much.

And requiring ID to vote is voter suppression because in the mind of the left minorities are too incompetent to get an ID right? I should add the left is okay with mail in voting without having to prove who you are so why don't we have verification of covid vaccines by mail also? We can even have it be on the honor system. Just like mail in voting. It will help with social distancing as was one of the justifications for mail in voting.

Just a few indisputable facts for all of us to review.

Coerced lockdowns and masks must be the only viable solutions, progressives told us for over a year,  because their “experts” like Anthony Fauci said that was what “the science” demanded.

In a world with very few certainties, here are two.  The first is that mask mandates and lockdowns are soul-sapping infringements upon individual liberty and calamitous to the people and economies that employ them.  The second is that mask mandates and lockdowns clearly cannot stop the spread of the virus.

-Masks? Sure, knock yourself out.
-Vaccine? Yup. Its available.
-Lockdowns? Nope.
-Allow unelected officials to change election laws? Nope.
-Allowing male and female Karens to run around like Chicken Little? Nope.
-Proposing forced vaccinations? Nope.
-Respecting natural immunity? Yep.
-Following actual science and not their stimulated
